I'm a Mac user. I decided to get CS:GO (heh thanks y'all, I got it) and when it downloaded, I tried to open it. Then, a message popped up - It said "Source - Warning", below it said "Only one instance of the game can be running at one time". I've searched all over the Internet, and they're all about Windows computers. It tells me to delete this file called hl2.exe or something, and there's an equivalent to that on a Mac called hl2.osx or something of the sort. I checked my Activity Monitor and there's no such thing running. I'd appreciate if y'all could help me out a bit, thanks.
Maybe try re-installing it. Or , this might work as an alternative to re-installing it. Restart your computer and launch Steam. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes. Or similar to what you said: Go to the process tab of the task manager and end ALL of the crashed copies, or steam will still think CS:GO is running.
Thank you for the tip, but the same problem still occurs. Also, my Steam client isn't loading anything apart from my library since a while ago. I could only download games in big picture mode, as that was the only thing that seemed to be working.
I had this problem before with Gmod, I know a way to fix this, like @Kaiiven said go to properties and put this code in to fix it. Try this: Main Menu Launch Options: -dxlevel 80 Multiplayer Launch Options: -console And in the console box at main menu put "vgui_allowhtml 0" every time you open the game If you are getting the error where you can't open the game after putting in "-console" vice versa, then put "-console, -dxlevel 80". in Launch options. No worries! I know a lot about steam, right just put the the main menu code in, if that doesn't work, I'll look it up some more.

Alright, I'll look into it now, and also yes. You should first have total control over the Windows Files Goto "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\wbem" and rename the "fastprox.dll" to "fastprox.dllold" Before that go to CSGO location, give "csgo.exe" the "Run this program as administrator" property, then open the game from Steam and it will work okay ^^! Also if you can't rename the files. Method 1: Stopping windows search will let you change the name of the file or folder. To do this a. Go to the start menu, type in msconfig b. Click the Services tab, uncheck the box next to Windows Search, then click Apply. c. After you have renamed the file you can turn Windows Search back on.
ah, I'm a Mac user. A handful of people have upgraded to the latest version (OS Sierra) and it appears to have worked for them. I'll upgrade it in a bit and see how it goes, too.
Good news! It worked out fine after I updated my Mac. However, there was a black screen upon launch, which I fixed by typing in -windowed into launch options. Thanks to you and @Kaiiven.
