Anyways, recently an inspirational artist and human being(to me) made a song about Marijuana Legalization. I'm hoping to get the community's outputs on the video and the idea of cannabis legalization.

Personally, I think Prince EA is literally one of the most politically correct people on the planet.
Not even this video, just his whole YouTube channel in a nutshell.
And I also think legalizing weed is still a complete joke, especially for our younger generation. Imo
That is all.

 

Well, legalizing weed has many pros and cons, if legalized, it has benefits to the economy, the marijuana black market would fall, and the government would not be spending as much taxpayer dollars to hunt down the drug, and they would gain revenue from legalizing it, however, weed would still be a demerit good, it causes harm and has a very bad influence if addicted to it, which is easy.

 

What harm other than "being addicted" does Marijuana pose? I'm having a bit trouble understanding that. And if being addicted is your only concern, then are you against legal things such as Alchohol and Tobacco?

 

It's not that marijuana is lethal or anything, but it is a demerit good, as well as alcohol, and tobacco, and excess production/supply of any of these goods can lead to market failure. Resources allocated to producing marijuana could be used to produce something more beneficial, like a merit or public good.

 

I'm not opposed to weed but one critical unintended consequence that no one has mentioned is drug dealers and their gangs switching to hard drugs because they can't sell weed anymore.

 

I believe in libertarianism, so I must say that I agree that marijuana should be legalized. It's not the most dangerous drug. Want to smoke weed? Know the risks? Aight, go ahead. No government should tell you what to do if you know the risks and accepted them AND that you're an adult because I do believe we should let no child smoke weed. You don't hurt anyone but yourself by smoking weed.

 

But the monetary resources overway the resources to produce them. As shown in the video, 20 BILLION(20,000,000,000) dollars will be saved and collected to the government every year(11B saved, 9B in taxes). Yeah, it will cost a decent amount of money to start up marijuana businesses, but the amount of money the government gets after it can be used to help the marijuana businesses, Job Creation, Environmental Protection, Education, Infastructure - You name it. $20B is a lot, so not legalizing is actually kinda backwards for the economy, no?

That's also not counting the lives freed from private prisons, the diseases solved and remedies made with Marijuana, and the time saved by police officers who constantly looked for "druggies". And as I said in my previous post, Marijuana is addictive, but so it alchohol, and tobacco. But we don't illegalize those. So this whole "addictive gateway" stuff, is a bunch of bullshit, because if those people who argued with that really meant what they said, then they'd push for anti-alchohol and anti-tobacco laws. But they don't, cuz they don't really care if something is addictive or not.

 

While I am pro-marijuana legalization, nearly everything said in the video has already been said before.
For years.
A thousand times.
We can say the same facts all we want, but people are still gonna think weed is the devil's herb. It's hard to "un-brainwash" somebody who's brainwashed.

 

I personally think no drugs should be legal anywhere.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana, Cocaine, etc are all drugs.
I think that all these things have cons that outweigh the pros, and not just for adolescents.

For adults, drunk driving is caused and many other irresponsible things that happen under the influence of drugs.

Teens make choices that aren't the best and that could jeopardize their future under the influence of drugs.

I just don't see why it would be right in any world for these harmful things to be legal.

The only pro for Marijuana I have ever heard is that it can be used for medicine. Why would you use something that you can easily get addicted to, which causes more illnesses (even after only one use, in the long run) to fix something? One thing.

Then for Alcohol, freedom is constantly used as an excuse. Alcohol can cause pretty bad health issues. This leads to a shorter life span. And even shorter life span would occur if you were addicted to Alcohol, which isn't all too uncommon here. Plus, you could make tons of.mistakes under the influence of Alcohol.

Also, are there any pros for tobacco use? I haven't heard of any yet.

I just don't think it's smart or right to jeopardize your life by using drugs.

 

Banning alcohol would be a huge mistake, look at what happened to the US during the prohibition era, gangsters, like Al Capone, got rich quickly by selling alcohol on the black market. Inevitably, the US had to make alcohol legal again.

What should happen is that the government should ban advertising for alcohol, as well as taxing it more heavily.

 

I still think it shouldn't be legal. That makes less people use it, because they don't want to break laws.

 

Although that is the common beliefs, I've recently read up on many articles about this, and many articles, including this one by sciencenordic.com, This study by PLOS, and this transcript by druglibrary. They all make the arguements that, although it is about drugs, prohibition for goods increases crime. That AND the 19th amendment just solidifies the counter to your arguement.

 

I didn't really want to debate this.
I was just stating my opinion.

 

There legit isn't a reason why it shouldn't be legal.

He only named a few things pot can help, it can help so much more.

• ADHD
• Epilepsy
• Appetite disorders
• Sleeping issues.
• Arthritis

To the people who say it's addicting, yeah nah. To the people who say its a gateway drug, yeah nah. It's just a fucking plant, you can go to jail for smoking a fucking plant. It's honestly ridiculous. If you actually think about it, it's so silly. Nature put it here, let nature do it's thing yo.

 

It should be illegal but that doesn't mean it isn't accessible to the people that need it like people with medical disorders. Also, you shouldn't go to jail for it, they should put you through rehab. When an officer arrests you for drug possession, they say "This stuff will ruin your life" and then proceed to put you in jail and ruin your life.

 

Even though i dont really pay a lot of attention to the whole Legalizing marijuana thing, I can firmly say i dont like Weed one bit, I know that for a fact because i have family who smoke that crap. A lot of people say its for medical purposes, but there were times where they smoke way more than they were prescribed, Marijuana along with Cigarettes are hard to beat as they cause so many health problems. I also believe this type of stuff makes you stupid as well.

The only positives about Marijuana is if used right, it can be used in the Medical field as a painkiller and many other things. But some people only want Weed to be legalized so they can go out in public and get stoned off there asses and not worry about the police catching them.


This is merely my opinion from what ive experienced. :P

Marijuana V.S. Alcohol is all that really needs to be looked at in my opinion.

Cannabis has medical properties whereas beer does not.

Beer causes many lives to be lost, Cannabis, not so much.

I could go on and on but a lot of it is just common sense.
