Note: If you are the kind of person to "TL : DR" person, don't even bother with this thread. Some will go "Venom, your being too serious about this". Well, this is my free time, and I will decide what to do with it, and nobody said I could not be. With that said, let's get started. Alright, there is so much that can be said about this topic, and I'm going to be right on point with it. I would not say the server itself is dying, but I can definately say that Minecraft is dying in more than one ways. I will not go into how Minecraft is dying though, as there has already been so many threads made about that, but this is about the server. Minecraft may be on its last legs, but it does not mean that the J/H has to be. Let me explain. @ItsJerry and @ItsHarry have put so much work into this server, made all (or contributed greatly to) the minigames, has a flourishing community, and much much more. This server has so much more potential than everyone thinks it does. Our server has all sorts of orginal content, so much so that we are all still here enjoying it to this day. However, the server is lacking, not content wise, not creativity wise, nor does the game have anything to do with it. I think this server is lacking publicity. While this may or may not be a surprise, but it must be said. This server has generally 1,200-300 people on it depending on the time of day and in different time zones. This may seem like a lot of people, which don't get me wrong it is, it fails to combat its potential and its past. All this server needs is a little of publicity for everything to get going again, because this server is loaded with content with people to enjoy, but nobody else in the Minecraft community knows we really exist. I am willing to bet that if more people knew about us, the J/H network's population could skyrocket due to the amount of content we provide to the average user, and with the addition to the EULA, people will no longer feel like other players have an unfair advantage over them, and much more. Jerry and Harry are very unappreciated when it comes to their work for us and the server itself, and is the reason we are all here. They may think it is weird if we all started thanking them all at once, but we do owe a huge debt to them just for being here, because they created this server from the ground for us to enjoy! They are quite possible to best server owners I have ever met, because they are just people like we are, and they don't see themselves anyone, in my opinion! Topic 2: This connects to the points made above, don't worry. When it comes to this server, I think everyone has forgotten everything that they are worth to this community. Once again, let me explain. When it comes to this server, everyone seems to cling onto the past and fail to see the future of the server. This server has a bright future! I want everyone to see that! We need reminders of everything that we are worth! We can really make this server back to what it used to be if we all hold onto it for a bit longer! All we need is a jumpstart! This server is counting us this time, and we can do J/H a huge favor if we all can do something to give us more publicity, and maybe influence YouTubers to go on this server as well! Remember when SkyDoesMinecraft came onto this server? While his fanboys did come onto this server, some of you reading this have only here because of him. (including myself, I found this place way back when a certain YouTuber popularized this place) If we can kick this server into high gear again, we can make better memories then the ones we have now. If we are to continue wishing that the past to ever return to us, we have to stop wishing and make it a reality today. We can create new memories, new friends, improve on our current friendships, and much more if we all work for it! fin, for now.
Well made thread, I agree. Our community does need more publicity and appreciation toward the two who have made it possible for us to gather around. I saw a suggestion floating about a few weeks ago about a voting system in order to put our community on the boards. It seemed great and it'll help a lot. If the community could be advertised somehow we can do good. Thanks @ItsJerry and @ItsHarry for the server and community you've provided us!
During this time of the year the player rate on IJ&H is very low. On the other hand, in Summer it is at peak amount of players. Also, about the staff being lazy. Most people do not know how hard the staff work each day. So it is best that you try not to groan about the server 'being full of hackers' when they have a lot of work to do.
So true. The only reason why I am here is because of SDM's buildit video. We need more advertizing. We need new players. Almost everyone active on the forums are old people like me that are scared whenever they see a new player. We are lacking new players. Nice thread.
A decent reason (connecting to what you said about publicity) why the server's population hasn't been rising is due to the fact that there are no posted videos about each new minigame they make. I remember when minefighter was created, they made a new video about it, and that was really cool. I looked at the JerryVHarry channel and upload history, and nothing is there about kitpvp and UHC. edit: I also noticed that there were many other videos at the time of the creation of those two minigames. When owners don't upload videos of them playing their new games, it sends a bad message to the community.
What we need is a more popular, powerful YouTuber to either do a collab with Jerry and Harry, sponsorship from said YouTubers, or other means of publicity.
From what you guys are saying so far, I want everyone to know that when, or if a YouTubers comes onto this server, keep in mind the effects do have some long term results, the short term results can be harsh. Ranging from hackers, toxic players, bypassers, etc. Also, keep in mind that the effects of these YouTubers are not guaranteed to be long term either. A sudden server spike would (on most occasions) will not last long, so what I think is that we should find a way to guarantee long term success. However, obviously I never said that a YouTuber making videos on here was ever a bad thing, rather it can be a 50/50 when it comes to certain things. High risk high reward type thing if you ask me. Another thing is that, a lot of people are saying that 'a lot more players come on during the summer'. This is definately correct in a lot of things, except a few. One of the main ones is that we cannot guarantee it, considering how things are going now. Even if we do get a lot more people online during the summer, it is always good to keep trying to bring new members in regardless. I felt like kind of a hypocrite when writing this, so correct me if I am. If so, I will still keep the post up, I would rather not hide anything.
I think another reason why the server has dropped in popularity is the content of it. The mini games on the server can be played on other, more popular server, except for a select few. Adding in more mini games can boost popularity, but we can't do that when we only have the owners working on implementing these, so we need more coders working on the server. Look at the suggestions page, there are so many suggestions for original mini games, I've suggested about 5 or 6 original mini games. If the server implements these, we could have at least thrice the content we have now on the server, and that keeps players entertained.
The best way I can sum up my view is "People creating structured arguments for a childish cause" and that is my main point I want to get across because seriously, we are all causing a huge commotion about losing the popularity on the server and it really isn't needed. This thread gets created daily and everyone responds the exact same way to each one. I sound direct but after the first couple of times of people posting this, it is just clogging up the forum and it needs to stop.
I would much rather be able to throw in my two cents also. This is what I think, so of course I was going to post it. I don't care if others have already done it. The server losing popularity is a legitimate problem because it affects all of us in one way or another
