So, since this section is titled "spam" anyways, I thought I would take this off my chest on here. I just can't keep this to myself anymore, and I would like to hear some opinions by you guys aswell. What happened to the internet? Seriously. Earlier, there wasn't so much hate around, or at least I didn't experience it like that. You weren't judged for liking certain things, everyone was nerdy about something, and everyone accepted each other as equal. Now, when you show some support for something, you become an outcast. You are hated on, and the things you like are called out to cause cancer. If you try to defend yourself, you're called a "f-----, go f-- urslf" etc. . And why do fandoms bash each other so much, anyways?! FNAF is hating on Undertale, Undertale is hating on FNAF, etc. Why the rivalry? What gain do these people get? It's perfectly fine that you might not like what others do. That's just how we all work. You're not gonna change that by calling someone names, anyways. I'm gonna make myself an outcast right now, and say that A: I'm a furry, and B: I'm part of the Undertale Fandom. (You didn't expect THAT one, did you? /s ) Now, I already know some of the responses will include some form of "I'm not judging you". But this usually is only the case in smaller groups, eg. this forum, or small subcommunities on reddit/4chan/whateversiteyouprefer dedicated exactly to that. The overall image on fandoms for those not participating in it is usually negative. Take furries, for example. Most of us are depicted as people completly going overboard by having "dirty time" while dressed up in fursuits with zippers at... "special places". But that's not who most of us are! I, for example, just like the general idea of anthros (that means, part human, part animal) The same goes with EVERY OTHER FANDOM out there. You can't like something without a big bunch of others hating you for it. And you know what's even worse? Most of the time, the people are not hating the thing that is being fandomed. The fandom itself is being hated upon, or the fact that something has a certain popularity, that it's becoming "cool" to hate on something. I've heard often enough that people don't like Undertale because they simply don't like it, no reasons, nothing. But still, I just accept it, and won't bother that person with it anymore. But as soon as I say I'd rather not play, I dunno, Call of Duty, and give valid reasons, I get shit on by everyone, torn apart in the air by those taking their subcommunity of the internet too seriously. We're all citizens of the internet, and we have enough war outside of it. And, since most of us won't be able to help settle the wars in the world, let's at least stop the hate wars inside our worldwide community. TL;DR: Please, those who be always hatin', accept that some people like other things than you do, and stop calling other fandoms cancer. We're all on the web to have a good time, not to build Trump's walls and annihilate/DDoS each other.
IMO, There's nothing wrong with liking a certain game or being part of a certain fandom. The only problem comes when people who like that thing group together and create a toxic environment to anyone involved. Even though not all individuals in the fandom are like this, the groups who treat others poorly tend to make all of the fans look like this, even though they may even be the minority. It's just something that's true in all aspects of life, really. There's no way to solve it, some people will always be toxic. But don't let that stop you, if you like something, don't be ashamed of it!
Exactly this is the part that's scaring me. Just a few hours ago , in a regular CS:Go lobby I joined, everyone was talking s--- about each other, claiming that the others are bad at the game, and probably would be "sexually abused orphans". Not kidding. They continued to bash on me and two of my close friends for not being good at the game and started insulting us ("never had a real mom", "goat f----rs","f----n undertale trash, [censored]","kill urself lol u f-----s r not even worth the time")... in a video game, with the purpose of having fun. (No, it was not Competitive, it was Demolition.) And if you're told that three hundred times, you just start believing it. I know I shouldn't, but it's inavoidable. War never changes. Also, sorry for being really depressive on this topic. I just can't stand this amount of salt on the internet anymore. EDIT: I just realized that i'm breaking apart from such meaningless garbage - as a 17yr-old. Damn, I really need to grow up
I don't think it means their brave really, but they just don't care about peoples opinions And why should they? Why let people tell you how to do your life, when it's YOUR life for a reason. You make your choices, not other people. If i like something, i really don't care if other people don't.
Tbh, every fandom has some.. questionable people in them. A lot of times people find out about those people, and a stereotype comes out, like with Sonic, and all of the recolors. (don't get offended, that's a stereotype and if you're a fan of sonic, i'm not saying that your fan-character is a recolor.) Anyways, a fandom can have a lot of those kinds of people that.. well, are kinda, to be blunt, cringey. Not all, it's just a stereotype gets out. Like Anime? Boom. Apparently you're a weeaboo. Like Undertale? Guess you're a meme spouting shit-poster. Like Call of Duty? Then you're a fanboy/girl that rages over the tiniest of things. It's unavoidable, every fandom will get a stereotype if it's popular enough. You can not like FNaF, or Undertale, but that doesn't mean if you see someone that likes it, you don't have to start a flame war, or go tell them to kill them self. I'm neutral on this all. I have opinions, but when they get so toxic, then I think it's a bit much.
Those are mostly immature 12 year olds (not saying all 12 year olds are immature here) who are telling you these things before their bedtime. Don't worry about them :)
There are always fans in every fandom who bash on other fandoms but not everyone from the fandom are the same. Some people from fandoms are actually very nice. But sadly those who bash on others are the ones who are getting more noticed and are the one who are ruining the fandom's reputation. But most fandoms do get mature over time.
