Article based on: http://fraghero.com/youtuber-records-journey-creepy-abandoned-mmo/2/ Basically, this YouTuber went on to an MMO game from 1995 which has been abandoned since. It's called Active Worlds and has literally been long forgotten and not played any more. Although, when the YouTuber was playing the game, there was another character in the world called "Hitomi Fujiko" who he originally thought was an NPC due to his speech being repeated, but that certainly wasn't the case. The NPC was talking to him and was a player, continually saying things such as "Do I even exist" You might think it was just some guy trolling people that were exploring the game, but nobody else could join but the YouTuber. It was impossible for anyone to be in the same game as him. Video: I doubt it's real, and probably some troll realistic player that the developers put in the game after it was abandoned (I would do that..) Also, have you ever played an abandoned MMO or any game at all? It's a really creepy experience if you haven't..
That is creepy man. Imagine if I were to go on World of Warcraft and nobody being there except one guy. I would either be terrified or intrigued based on what the circumstances would be.
I'd be mostly terrified. I mean, imagine he just started staring at you questioning his existence and how he was "trapped in the game".. I think I'm gonna go and try to find an abandoned MMO, if I'm lucky I'll post it here. For those that might not understand why others couldn't join, registration for the game was locked and shut down in October 2013.
I think there's a game called Hello Kitty Adventure that's pretty much dead... I only know about this because of Markiplier's mindfuck spook videos. God damn you Mark.
I've played that before, like a few months ago, it's quite fun. It isn't exactly dead/abandoned but it is quite quiet. Noticed any strange ghost NPCs? jk xD
One big one for me was VMK or Virtual Magic Kingdom. It was a fairly recent online game similar to Club Penguin and both are by Disney. In VMK, however, you explore Disney-themed areas where you can play mini games and chat with friends. I was really young when it reached its peak, but my brother and sister helped me on the computer. My mom recently received a bunch of cards that revolved around VMK from this guy that used to work for Disney (not entirely sure how he got his hands on them, but it's still really cool). The best part about VMK was the atmosphere. I loved every little detail VMK had to offer, whether it was the real-life sound effects or the fun frame-by-frame animation style. It also came with a bunch of cool in-game merchandise that you could buy that ranged from Mickey Ears to furniture inspired by the Disney movies. I think there was a trading card thing that happened which is why there were cards. VMK was closed down due to insufficient funding and what-not, but it's still remembered very much in all of the past fans who got the chance to play it. There is now a website that has a clone of the MMO, but you can't customize anything or have your character walk around. That's what made it creepy for me. The other "park" guests were what made it so special and added a TON to the atmosphere. Yet, on the site it's so spooky when the soundtrack contains people talking but you're all alone... HERE's the website that I was talking about. When you get there, just click on the left-hand light green box that says "Enter VMK Revisited."
How is this possible? If no-one could join, how is this possible? I am scared out of my wits. Wonder if we could play together in that game someday.
I don't think Skyrim dead, It's not as famous as it was upon release, but the modding community is keeping lots people on.
