the report command did nothing for me... I used it 3 times over a period of 15 min, no one responded. I go onto the lobby and there are about 5 helpers, mods and mod+. I told them about the hacker and they got on the game and banned them, so why didn't they respond to the /report? In my opinion its useless cause no one seemed to care about it.
When the ./report command was implemented, it made many players happy. Some that even include myself. As @TheDiamondPicks said above me, staff are not guaranteed to respond. Trust me, I have had experiences close to yours, my friend. The best thing to do in a situation like that is wait. A quote that I say, "Good things come to those who wait". If you have waited, and you feel as your ./report has been ignored, then feel free to notify a staff member of the hacker. Remember that the best place to actually report a player is on the forums. And, only use the ./report command if immediate attention is needed.
Staff are very busy at times. They may seem afk, but they could be solving a forum report. Patience is key, my friend.
Also it says that the forums is always the best place to report someone because someone is always guaranteed to reply here.
You didn't answer the question. What he is asking is why staff didn't come when /report was used, but did come when he contacted them directly. In addition to that, the system aims to be quick and efficient when it comes to hackers (and generally), so patience 'patience isn't the key'…
Very sorry. I will hold it to my attention that I need to think more before I post my replies. Thank you for helping me notice that. *I'll leave this now to avoid any more off topicness*
Staff might have been doing something else. But, yes. I think a fast response to those reports is required for that command to hold it's purpose. I mean, reacting to it half an hour later isn't effective as the hacker might be long gone.
Sometimes immediate responses aren't possible. There have been countless times when I am the only one/the only mod online and we have multiple reports. Albeit I try I have had to sacrifice one report to solve 3 others. For anyone reading, I do suggest getting a recording just in case. Sometimes toggling happens, leaving, reports stack up, all different reasons why Staff cannot handle a report. It isn't as easy to handle in game reports due to the possibility of being tugged back and forth, player not hacking, player leaving, player toggling, etc.
Yesterday I did /report three times because of two hackers. Nobody was coming so I did /hub and 4 mods and an admin was there!??!!!!!
alright I suggest to use /report however if you are not impressed with the way staff are dealing with your report then instead of complaining about it just use forums to report your player.. the best thing to do is record everything that is going on then save the record. and so first use the command /report if after countless of times using it you feel that no one is replying then with the record you have saved report it to the forums then I am sure you will have a guaranteed action to your report.
And I totally agree with you on that. What I meant was, probably not anymore, but there were plenty of cases in the past where some ex staff (no longer for a reason) were casually chatting or running in the lobby while people were asking for support on other servers.
Unfortunately you can't always rely on a system like /report. It's a newer thing, and many people can just be reluctant to do it. Also, the mods you saw in the lobby may not have known hacks well and decided to ignore the report instead of try to solve it, leading to false hope for you. I always record, but report when I lose the hacker in another room of OITC for example. Also, there is no excuse to not record most of the time. I have a terrible computer and I run 15-20 fps and I can still record cleanly with a system that has a demo mode available (that just has the transparent word "demo" across the screen, but the video is still viewable). If you're not lazy, you won't be disappointed by depending on /report. You gotta put some effort in.
Although you may use the ./report command as it brings up a text box explaining what it is and how to use it, it states that "Staff are not guaranteed to handle your report" therefore staff may be there in the hub but possibly handling another person or afk.
As stated by most people here, it is not guaranteed to be replied to. /report was added to the server in case of urgent need of help, such as grief or a hacker. But when any time possible, just take screenshots or record the rule breaker and report here on the forums.
