10 Lies You Were Told About Islam

As a Muslim, I have been discriminated a lot when i used to live in America, sometimes I'd be kicked out of a store just because I'm a muslim (and because my mother wears the hijab) and I'd be kicked out of the bus just because I'm a muslim.

This happens a lot, you know. That's why when you would ask your muslim friend "Hey, what do you think about the West?", they'll instantly tell you to go f*ck yourself (or probably just insult the west), but actually, not ALL muslims hate the west, which explains why Islamic countries are allied with some western countries.

And because of ISIS, us muslims are often seen as 'terrorists', which is why my father decided to come to saudi arabia and work at Saudi aramco, which is a BEAUTIFUL community in Saudi arabia that allows a lot of things that Saudi arabia doesn't allow.

So, here are 10 lies you were probably told about by your parents, at school or other places.

10. Muslims Hate The West
An online article by a so called 'Islam expert' claimed that muslim children are taught to hate the west.
However, an extensive survey conducted by the institute of social policy and understanding contradicts this theory.

the study involves asking 50,000 muslims across 35 countries "What do you admire the most about the West?" Research found that this idea of widespread negative opinion toward the western world is completely false.

And only 8% muslims said they admired nothing.

9. Terrorist Training Camps
Martin Maywer, founder of the anti-islam "christian action network" claimed that secret camps exist across america, training muslims for terrorist activity.

In his book "Twilight In America" he describes the town of Islamberg in ney work that supposedly holds bunkers, automatic weapons, and an airfield where muslims can recieve training.

Islamberg is in fact just a tranquil town of 40 families, founded in the 1980s by african american muslims escaping racism from new york city
Mawyers claims were quashed by the NYSP, who explained that "The State Police Were Invited To Their Lands, I don't know any other place where if something nefarious was occuring. they would willingly invite law enforcement officers to come and have lunch"

8. No Go Zones
In January 2015, KT MCFARLAND, the national security analyst for fox news, exposed the existance of 750 no go zones across france. she revealed that the areas prohibit non-muslims from entering, and operate under strict sharia law, where ambulances have access only by police escort.

McFarLands statements were found to be pure speculation, as these supposed 'No-Go Zone' areas were simply towns that french authorities prioritized for urban renewal and state aid.

7. Islamic Terrorist World Domination
During his presidential campaign, jeb bush stated the 'biggest threat today is Islamic terrorism'

However, research conducted by the university of north carolina found that out of the 190,000 Americans murdered since 9/11, only 37 deaths were linked to Islamic extremists.

Moreover, europol found that Islamists were responsible for just 0.7% of terror attacks in europe between 2006 and 2013.

6. Celebrating 9/11
In 2015, as part of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump (who is full of shit) made a speech claiming that he saw TV footage of thousands and thousands of Muslims in new jersey cheering as the world trade center was attacked

The controversial accusation prompted a media investigation into the matter, which found no video evidence.

Jerry Speziale, the police commissioner of paterson, new jersey, which has the second largest Muslim population in the U.S stated: 'There were no flags burning, no one was dancing, that is totally false'.

5. Muslims Support Violence
The center for security policy, A U.S think tank known for engaging in conspiracy theories claimed that 25% of Muslim Americans support violence against other Americans.
Again, Donald Trump also subsequently used this statistic during his presidential campaign.

Closer investigation found that the center is run by Frank Gaffney, an identified Anti-Muslim. and that a mere 600 people were interviewed during research, extensive research conducted by the pew research center identifies 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, of which only 0.006625% identify with extremism.

4. Only Muslims In Birmingham
In 2015, Fox News brought American journalist and supposed Islamic extremism expert, Steven Emerson, on the show. Emerson proceeded to claim that the city of birmingham in England is entirely Muslim, and Non-muslims are banned from entering.

Emerson's statement has been disproven by the uk national office of statistic. Which states that only 14.5% of birmingham residents are Muslim.

In response to the vastly incorrect claims, prime minister David Cameron said 'Frankly, I choked on my porridge and thought it must be April fool's day, this guy's clearly a complete idiot',

3. Muslim Women Are Oppressed
Britian First, The far-right, fascist political party states that 'Women are oppressed by Islam. Muslim women are expected to cover their entire bodies with the niqab or burka'

This is what many people believe, but in fact, the Qur'an merely states that woem should 'guard their modesty', and does not order any particular dress.

Moreover, the claim that islam oppresses women is a sweeping generalization.
In many cases, Muslim women are often highly educated, such as in Iran, where more women attend higher education than men.

2. ISIS represents Islam
Douglas Al Bazi, a catholic parish priest in erbil, Iraq, stated that 'anyone who still thinks ISIS doesn't represent islam, know they are wrong. ISIS represents Islam one hundred percent'.

In reality, ISIS is not just un-Islamic, it is Anti-Islamic, and in the first 8 months of 2015, ISIS was responsible for the deaths of over 9000 muslims in iraq. the terror organization has also claimed responsibility for repeatedly bombing mosques across the middle east.

1. Muslims must kill people of other religions
2016 republican presidential candidate Ben Carson took to Facebook to voice his opinion that he would not support a Muslim president.

He slandered Islam even further, writing 'Under sharia law, women must be subservient and people following other religions must be killed'.

The Holy Qur'an specifically says the opposite, stating: 'One who kills a Non-Muslim person under protection will not even smell the fragrance of paradise' and 'whoever hurts a Non-Muslim, I shall be adversary to him, on the day of resurrection'.

I once saw a programm where someone who hated immigrants and Muslims (she was clearly undereducated) said that they don't care if a woman gets raped, since women are nothing in the Islam. She clearly needs to read this thread. I hate it when people are saying that they hate the islam, when they don't even know what the islam is.

I really like Islam, and their culture. I know several people who are Muslims, who believe that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and that everyone is equal. The culture of Islam is very rich, and so is their history, not to mention, several delicious dishes come from Islam, such as biryani and gulab jamun.

It's pretty sad if you get kicked out of stores or public transportation because of religion, to me that is disgusting to hear, some people are ignorant, but I fore most hate those that choose to remain ignorant.

That survey question is so bias. People do that on purpose to get desired results. That question no doubt got little people that said nothing because the way it was worded.

I agree. I feel sad for them. Nobody deserves to die like this, whether that person is a christian, muslim, athiest... We all are still humans but with different beliefs, we should all have sympathy for others.

Those verses are talking about their punishment in hell.
In this world, Allah has warned us about extremism and forbid us from forcing a non-muslim into Islam and hurting a non-muslim.

But Saudi Arabia, which is my country, is not following these rules and are almost trying to force citizens of saudi arabia into becoming islamists.

I can respect that, but it is the Muslims who continue to act violent and insult the name of Islam which sicken me. It's also the fact that people think the 10% of Islam (the extremists) define the entire religion, when in fact, it does not. I continue to say you should never judge a person just because they are Muslim, but you should instead judge every person individually.

Islam is supposed to be a peaceful religion, but some muslims aren't making it look like a violent religion.
