So earlier today I was just hanging around on OITC with a few people and talking to some old friends when I brought up the topic of anime and if anyone liked it and or had any recommendations for me. I was disgusted at what I saw next. An individual who I will not be naming said some horrific things along the lines of "All people who watch anime are suicidal" , "Anime is for people who hate their lives" and other things of this manner. He then continued to carry on and informed us that some of his "friends" watch anime and they're suicidal and that they're all attention seekers. So, he has just started making jokes about suicide then says that all of his friends are suicidal attentions whores, like how low can you be. Me and another individual on the server were answering to him claiming that he was a disgusting human being and that he was really low for bashing on people he claims are his friends. Another player started getting involved with the argument and claimed that we were in the wrong because we were defending suicidal people on minecraft. According to this player, standing up for people is now wrong because its within a game and that we're disgusting humans. I was literally gob smacked by this. Being someone who has had experience with depression from close friends, family members and me personally I find it DISGUSTING how people can take this as a joke and stereotype people just because of something they watch. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do next time I see this player? What I could say or do. If someone suggests ignoring them I simply cannot just ignore something like this. Sorry for the little rant, I just felt the need to share this.
I've been in so many cases where I've felt the need to say something, and when I did, things piled over each other. Don't give people the opportunity to blackmail you for your mistakes just in case you say something wrong. Don't say anything and it'll just pass by.
You should probably contact a staff member, but I see how you could not simply ignore that. That player could be banned for bashing people like that, so could anyone else. These are my suggestions, and if I did not help, I felt compelled to help.
I only have one screenshot of the chat at this moment in time, if he continues I will 100% report it. Thank you :)
If he is not directly attacking one individual then I see nothing wrong with it. Honestly, If this is the first you're seeing of this, you must be quite new to the internet. These types of jokes are all over the internet.
Despite the fact that he stopped, I would've reported it regardless. It isn't something to let slide by, especially with jokes like that. Honestly, I think you should report him even if he doesn't continue to make these jokes.
The world wouldn't be the world without haters. You should always like what you like, and if someone says that you're stupid, ignore him or beat him up, but since the second option is a bit illegal, do the first.
Probably just someone trolling. It sounds like you did not respond to him in chat, which is good, reaction is what these kinds of people feed off of. I would of reported it and ignored it.
I was in no way trying to justify it. I was just trying to say that I'm sure a lot of people have seen a lot worse on the server and just reported it rather than making a thread about it.
People will be living cancer. I understand your rant. People can truly be utterly disgusting with what they type/say. I totally understand this.
If he wasn't targeting a specific player(s), then he was stating his opinion and has the right to do so. @Kitao then bashed him for his said opinion calling him disgusting so it is a bit of her fault. I know how people are when they report and they are pissed off, they add exaggerations in the middle of their statements to make it seem worse, some in her statement/story I felt were exaggerations of what the player said Unless you have proof, I'm thinking he didn't call them attention whores, but rather said they were looking for attention (same thing not as bad). The suicide jokes part sounds a bit stretched too as an actual report would have been made by another player(s) as that is really against the rules. You actually can stereotype someone by what they watch, people that watch cartoons are typically kids and some kids act childish, people that watch documentaries are typically teenagers-adults who are matured, etc. Actually, you can ignore them, if you constantly reply to him he will keep saying things so if you just don't reply he will stop saying things. If what he is saying is his opinion and not targeting anyone, then he has the right to say it but when he targets one player, thats only when he can be reported.
