Here's some steps: 1) Banning guns/severe gun control 2) Programs where the government pays you to turn in guns & ammunition. 3) Government-ran self-defense programs that teach civilians how to use things like tazers and pepper spray. 4) Teach Police how to solve problems without guns(A big fear with many is that our abusive and corrupt justice system will basically slaughter us and get away with it)
That takes guns from the citizens. What we are talking about is to stop CRIMINALS FROM HAVING GUNS. Stopping civilians from having guns is just giving us less to protect ourselves with. Criminals. Don't. Follow. Laws. They. Don't. Care. About. Gun. Control.
"I honestly have no problem with American Gun Laws. It's their social support that I have a problem with. It is easier to go buy a gun, than it is to seek out mental health assistance. It is cheaper to buy bullets, than it is to buy medications. It is more acceptable to have an arsenal, than it is to be suffering from an illness. I agree with gun advocates who state, 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people.' In the most basic sense, it is people who kill other people. Why isn't there any infrastructure at all to actually assist these people with their problems?" - /u/realised via reddit
I have a feeling this thread is about to get out of hand. Guns can take a life, guns also save a life. The real question is, what should be the limit? Should we allow citizens to unlimited guns, or should we have a limit? You really only need one or two guns to protect yourself. The amount of guns you/your family have Chase, is just way too much if the only goal is to protect yourself. Each one of my family members have a gun just in case we need it.(4 guns in total) That is enough, we don't need a whole cabinet of badass guns to protect. Guns can easily take a life, however guns can easily save a life when needed. That is just my opinion on it. Quote this if you want, I don't really care.
I support Donald Trump, I don't see anything wrong with him and support what he stands for. Donald Trump's ideas are not that bad, I mean some people think they resemble Hitler's ideology but I don't believe that. For example, the wall he talks about building between the United States and Mexico is a great idea. It stops the mass migration of immigrants from the entire of South America. For the immigrants that do make it into the country, they are going to sometime apply for citizenship and start voting democratically so that they can receive help from the government because most of the immigrants do not have good jobs if they even have a job. His idea of stopping the thousands of immigrants from Syria is also a good idea. A small fraction of those fleeing the war-torn country may be radical (NO, I am not saying all Muslims are terrorists). The immigrants that are regular people I should say would start voting democratically because they need help from the government as most of them do not have a house or a job. The people backing the movement of immigrants to the country are mostly democrats who want more people to vote for them. The majority of people on the IJAH forums support liberal and democratic ideology so my comment/OPINION is probably going to get me hated.
We already have a wall between us and mexico, Donald trump just wants to spend millions of dollars to do a useless change from a steel fence with barb wire to a thick stone wall. This solves nothing and wastes money. Most illegal immigrants from the south come by boat or use cartel-ran underground tunnels to go under the wall. Now, that was when tons of immigrants from Mexico were coming to the US to escape the cartel wars and to find opportunities they couldn't find in their original country. That's why all immigrants are immigrants. They don't just leave their home because they want to, they are forced to leave if they want to survive. The Syrians couldn't survive with a government that had killed many citizens with poison gas, and with IS closing in. They fled to the closest and best place for opportunities, The West. And what are many countries in the west doing? Rejecting them. What if the Western World was being destroyed, and we had to go to the eastern deserts. Then, when we're at their doorstep, begging for entry, they deny us. Wouldn't you feel hopeless? You can't go back home, and if you could, it's too far. You also can't go into or even pass through a country to survive, so you basically wait and starve outside the border. That's what these refugees are dealing with. They don't have AC or computers, they have limited iPhone batteries(and chargers, if they find an outlet if they get into a country), water, and some snacks. They pack what they got on their backs, and dont come with suitcases. The immigrants have no political power in their country, and evacuate. Honestly, libs don't want immigrants to come in just so they can vote for us. We want them to be allowed to come so that they can survive. We aren't heartless beings and we know how much pain the refugees are going through. I feel much more graced than a refugee just because I have Air conditioning and a place to safely rest my head, and you should too.
Not the spoiler, you calling him ignorant was what I was talking about. It's actually a smart investment. Building the wall will stop taxpayer's money from being funneled into welfare for the thousands of immigrants. It really does save money.
Illegal Immigrants dont get welfare. Their identity in America is an unmarked person, not a citizen. Only Citizens are entitled to Welfare. Immigrants actually do take American jobs. But they take jobs like steel making, farming, construction, ect. Jobs that everyday Americans don't want. American Citizens are more interested in service, digital, and artistic jobs(Music, Drawing, Poems, ect.), not low-paying, laborous construction and farming.
Someone has to pay for them, whether it is for an emergency room visit (covered by taxpayers money). Also, what about the people who have been murdered, raped, assaulted, or anything by an immigrant that shouldn't even be there?
And what about the even more people supposedly being raped and assaulted by US citizens? Tell me, if you go to a new area where the locals hate you, are you really going to rape and attack the citizens? I don't think you're seeing the issue in the eyes of the refugees, what they go through to get to America, and how they literally leave their homes with nothing but a sack of life-saving materials(food, water, a phone, clothes, ect.), and their culture. Just try to put yourself as a boy running from home with no home to going back, only to be denied by people guarding your only hope and destination.
Illegal immigrants are usually fleeing from people that threaten their families or their own lives. People that are hunting them down 24/7 around the entire country, no matter where they go, so what other choice do they have? They probably also do that because they don't want to die living lives of poverty, and want to start a new lifestyle. Even if they illegally immigrated, they can still get a citizenship and become a legal citizen. The U.S. is a country of Diversity. Everyone deserves a chance and if they do something wrong then they deserve to be deported.
Ok so if they want a new chance and freedom then they can apply for citizenship and come here legally. America is known to be one of the great countries so im sure a ton of people would want to come here but if we allowed anyone to cross over not only would bring crime and drugs but also more importantly make it overcrowded. Your right everyone does deserve a chance for citizenship and everyone gets a chance for citizenship but its not right to do it illegally.
The problem with coming here and applying for citizenship legally is that most refugees don't carry A passport, info, or enough money to buy tickets to get on a boat, plane, ect. They don't come with suitcases and wealth, they come with destitution and small bags.
Even if they are desperate, illegal immigrants can destabilize a country. A country mostly works for its own interest and the interests of their citizens. Every country needs to fix their own national problems before moving on to international ones. If the US started accepting all people coming in from Mexico, the government would be overwhelmed due to the influx of people coming into the country. This is why the government controls the flow of immigrating people. Yes, these people are looking for a better life, but we cannot be responsible for Mexico's problems. What's the point of having immigration laws, if people will break it regularly?
Like Unit50079 said, immigration destabilizes a country. The United States has a population around 312,000,000 citizens, and so far around 11.7 million immigrants from everywhere (Mexico, India, China, etc) That makes the United States population 323.7 million. If you do the math and the information above, you will find that immigrants now make up 28% of the United State's population. Lets put this on a smaller scale, say you live in a city with 1,000 citizens. Let's add 28% (population of immigrants.) 1000 x .28=280. That adds 280 people to the new population making it 1,280. If this city only could support 1,000 citizens with services like housing, healthcare, police, fire department, and anything, imagine how hard it would be to pay for 1/3 more of your population...
