An unlikely Hero

"Watch it, kid!”

A boy was pushed to the ground, his large oval glasses falling off of his short freckled nose. He felt carefully around for it as the larger boy who had pushed him laughed. Eventually the boy found his glasses and put them on. He stood up and faced his bully.

“What a nerd,” The larger boy whispered the bully to his friend.

The younger boy looked at the lace of his shoes and whimpered "I wasn't in your way"

“Oh, now you’re saying I’m a liar?”

“Yes,” said the boy looking up bravely, “I am.”

For the last minutes of his break he spent tied up to the school gate, he didn't mind much worse had happened to him

“Seriously, dude,” he said picking up his friend’s glasses and handing them back, “I think you need to start learning how not to antagonize those guys.”

“I noticed,” said thirteen year old Jake as he brushed his clothes off.

“You must really like getting beat up,” Carl said, “Come on; we are late for class as it is.”

“I don’t like getting beat up, I just stand for what’s right and those … those guys don’t like it.”

Yeah.... Work
