Tumblr Experiment - Funny Story

NOTE: I do not have anything against any gender, but I think we have enough that tumblr creates a new gender every 5 minutes. This is just a simple joke.


Ok so I forgot to take take screenshots of this, but heres what happened.
I was browsing through 4chan's /b/ board, and then I found a thread "Let's make an experiment on tumblr, let's create a new gender. Dubs decides name of the gender." I typed in "Emale" as comment and my post number had a double digit at the end (this is what dubs means) so I won. Then everybody on 4chan started making tumblr accounts on how we should stop hating on emales. People started making Emale logos, and it was completely chaos. Even the tumblr community started going on our side XD. But what basically is an emale? Here's a quote from a 4chan user:I’m happy emales, such as myself, are beginning to be noticed. I’m happy to be meeting other emales that share the same interests as me or even have completely different interests because there is always room to learn, especially when you have something in common.
Heres a bit about my life as an emale:
I Identify as male on this world but i am an intelligent and delicate flower in the digital realm. I have had to hide my emale sexuality for many years by making male avatars and screen names. But no more! Today i am proud to say you may know me as Frank Wilson in this world but i choose to be Princessfluffysoul74 in the digital realm. respect my gender!!!
The worst part is, tumblr actually thought it was serious.

Ok so that's what happened. This is not to offend anyone, this is just a silly story I wanted to share. And again, I don't have anything against agenders/pansexuals/etc.

The fact that you go on 4chan alone scares me, rather than the fact that you seem to take gender as a joke(which tbh is still offensive).

 

So I'm not allowed to go on 4chan? Also we're not making fun of genders, we're making fun of tumblr who creates a new one every five mins.

 

Uh, lol?? I don't get it, the thing about tumblr making a gender every five minutes is actually false. There's a wide spectrum of non-binary genders. There's the binary, (cis male/cis female).
There's actually umbrella terms for gender, like non-binary and genderqueer.I've actually learnt a lot recently, from some research.

Someone's gender identity isn't about find a label that's been made, it's about being comfortable in their own skin. Comfortable with themselves, identifying as whomever they are. The label is the last part. Gender identity is very confusing for me personally as is sexuality. Which is a completely different thing. I get that tumblr isn't a credible source of information but the idea that we assign a specific sex/gender based on genitalia is ridiculous. I'm constantly learning and I'll admit that I used to say "sex and gender are different" but biological sex is still a social construct! The "biologically a male/female" argument is bull. It's just an excuse to reduce people to their genitalia and to be transphobic. I barely use tumblr(only to find music and interviews) it's not a website for someone's "clarification" etc. The fact that people joke about gender identity could make someone feel dysphoric, but I can only speak for myself. Sorry if I got all technical with you, I didn't mean to. Just wanted to give my opinion.
edit: it's not that I wasn't accepting someone's humour, I just didn't find it funny. Sorry about that. I wasn't trying to hate on you, or anyone. We're all allowed to express our opinions. I can admit, your post did make me feel dysphoric. I just didn't understand the joke, these things are usually joked about I guess. I had no intent to make you feel bad in any way.
