Hello guys, today 30 years ago Microsoft released the first Windows ever - Windows 1.01. So Windows turns 30. Now, Windows 10 is released, the 12th version after 1.01. I want to make a survey. Tell me your favourite Windows, if you ever owned one, and explain why. I'm very interested. Spoiler: My favourite Windows My favourite Windows - 2 of them - are XP and 7. XP because it's the very first Windows I ever owned and Windows 7 because it's the one I "grew up with". Tell me your opinions. ~n00b Spoiler: History of Microsoft's Windows Windows 10 - 29 July 2015 Windows 10 Home Windows 10 Pro Windows 10 Enterprise Windows 10 Education Windows 10 Mobile & Windows 11 Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise Windows 10 IoT Core Windows 8.1 - 17 October 2013 Windows 8.1 Windows 8.1 Pro Windows 8.1 Enterprise Windows 8 - 26 October 2012 Windows 8 Windows 8 Pro Windows 8 Enterprise Windows 7 - 22 October 2009 Windows 7 Home Basic Windows 7 Home Premium Windows 7 Professional Windows 7 Enterprise Windows 7 Ultimate Windows Thin PC Windows Vista - 30 January 2007 Windows Vista Home Basic Windows Vista Home Premium Windows Vista Business Windows Vista Enterprise Windows Vista Ultimate Windows XP - 25 October 2001 Windows XP Starter Windows XP Home Windows XP Professional Windows XP 64-bit Edition Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs (8 July 2006) Windows 2000 - 17 February 2000 Windows 98 - 25 June 1998 Windows 98 Windows 98 Second Edition (23 April 1999) Windows 95 - 24 August 1995 Windows 95 Windows 95 SP1 (31 December 1995) Windows 95 OSR1 (14 February 1996) Windows 95 OSR2 (24 August 1996) Windows 95 USB Supplement to OSR2 (27 August 1997) Windows 95 OSR2.1 (27 August 1997) Windows 95 OSR2.5 (26 November 1997) Windows NT 3.51 - 30 May 1995 Windows NT 3.5 - 21 September 1994 Windows 3.2 - 22 November 1993 Windows for Workgroups 3.11 - November 1993 Windows NT 3.1 - 27 July 1993 Windows 3.1 - April 1992 Windows 3.1 Windows for Workgroups 3.1 (October 1992) Windows 3.0 - 22 May 1990 Windows 2.11 - 13 March 1989 Windows/286 Windows/386 Windows 2.10 - 27 May 1988 Windows/286 Windows/386 Windows 2.03 - 9 December 1987 Windows 1.04 - April 1987 Windows 1.03 - August 1986 Windows 1.02 - May 1986 Windows 1.01 - 20 November 1985
I selected 7, but it's really a tie between 7 and 10. Both run smoothly and aren't confusing. 8.1 was better than 8. Most don't know the difference, but 8.1 was easier and faster then 8. (Example: 8 didn't have the Start button, but 8.1 did.)
I hate the skeuomorph ui that is Windows 7. XP is ok for 2002 but people still using it in 2015 is stupid. Anyway I could rant forever about this. Vista needs no explanation. 8 was a bad bet but 8.1 improved on that. So for me Win 10 is good for desktop users whilst still being modern.
It would definitely be a tie between 7 and 10, I grew up with 7 and loved it, but I also love 10 as much.
Windows 7 since I've had this Windows 7 pc for... years now. It's getting slow now but in the past it was great :)
My favorite Windows is 10. It just has so many more options than 7 and 8, and it's MUCH faster when you open programs, delete them, boot up your pc... + it's free! (if you own a system with windows 7 or 8)
Windows will always be shit because they never make file placement and sorting convenient. If I had to say what was best, Windows 7.
