What do YOU think about the Starbucks Red Cup 'Controversy'

It amazes me that a community built on being tolerant to everyone is so unfair to a large group of people.
Yes Christanity is not the only religion, and yes there a people in the Christan faith that are anoying, homophobic, bigoted, arrogant, ect. However no where on the cup had any real Christmas decor, its all generic stuff that is associated with winter.
I don't disagree people are making a mountain of a mole hill, that argument is 100% valid. However ive some people here get offended when there is a minor thing to the LGBT+ community, not evryone but some. However thats completely justified right?

The main point im trying to get across is to put your self in there shoes first. Again i think the people that are offended based on the Christan defense are wrong, its not really things that are Christmas like, and its just a cup. However you seem very quick to trash talk Christanity.

 

Thats not true to just christans. Its true to everyone. Everyone gets offended over stuff thats not important.
Again, it really should be offensive to anyone, its a cup. What is unfair is the quick to bash behavior on Christanity for getting easily offended, but in reality we are all guilty.

 

1.) I guess it used to say "Merrry Christmas" on it, o well. It got removed fine.
2.) The people who are offended are a small fraction of the Christan faith, any decision is bound to piss off someone. I dont think its worth being offended over. In fact I understand why Starbucks would remove it the "christmas" part.

You in particular did not bash on it, but other people that quoted did. However my point of "put your self in there shoes" stays. Like the LGBT+ movement Christanity can be a very sensitive topic to alot of people, so some are easily offended.

I agree that the cup controversy is stupid, but I see both sides of it.
My whole point here is to state my opinion, and give a diffrent prospective on things. I think there is a stigma to Christanity thats needs to pointed out. Regardless of if you said it or not, you know that it exists, people have no clue what they are talking about, my self included. Think of me what you will for posting this, Im sure this opinion wont make me pouplar, but maybe find the irony first.

 

First off before I even start, this needs to be read in full, and with an open mind. If your going come in reading this thinking that Im stupid or inferior to you, then stop here. If you actually think about Im going to say, more in particular what I have in blue, then you might see my logic.

You are all missing the point of what Im trying to say.
I ,personaly, don't disagree, its not something to be offended over, and its not a big deal. My point is the attitude some people hold to Christans. Also not every Christan is like that, its a small fraction of it. Thats like saying anyone thats gay person is boisterous, when thats not the case. You present your self as someone who sterotypes all Christans as bigoted, homophobic, people. Regardless if you think that or not thats how its comes across.

First off sense you said literately and at all. Im going to assume that you mean that every christian in the entire world is not getting oppressed.

Now there is no one that goes to Starbucks and is getting hunt down by ISIS, I get that, but the "fact" that Christians are not getting oppressed is invalid.

What my point is that people chose Christianity as a life style, just as some have chosen to have LGBT+ be a lifestyle. As long as your happy with your decision both life styles are great to live by. Both have there advantages, both have there down falls. I personally live in the middle. Many people hold there lifestyle close to them, as its what they live by. With that some people will be offended over little things, not everyone, but some.
You in particular have been offended in the past over jokes in reference to transgender people, though it does not directly attack them. I personally dont see why you would be offended by it, but that's just me. Ive came to learn that sometimes people are sensitive to the topic of sexuality, so I keep that in mind. I dont always agree with it, but I will respect it.
The same thing with religion. Some people, like me, can roll with the punches. Others are offended of the slightest thing. Now how is that different then how you feel? My point is that if you preach tolerance to others, you should act tolerant to others.
EDIT: I know this is getting off topic, but unlike other people who you have argued with, I will not back down, and I will definitely not back down if multiple are going after me at once. That said can we continue this in another thread/pm?
