Bullying on the server will destroy it.

I have made this topic to ask some of you people, why do you have the need to bully other members?

Me speaking to bullies:
I know you are probably unloved or have no friends in real life, and this is your way of dealing with frustration. I am not saying this as an insult, it is just simple psychology. But, how does bullying others make you feel better? Specially when you use someone's private information and spread it online?

Why is this in Server Discussion?:
Because it needs to be. These people are bringing doom upon this server. Many people, including myself, have left the server because of how toxic community has become. People like those are exploiting the fact that they most likely wont get banned, and that needs to be changed. This forum is the place with most drama you can find when it comes to gaming communities, and that is something that shouldn't be connected with a game like Minecraft. I understand most of you are children, but this is a community, and just like in real life, you either follow the rules or get punished for breaking them, atleast, that's how it should be.

There aren't any subtle messages to the admins here. I am just stating the fact that people are exploiting the warning system too much. Personally, I don't care about those bullies at all because I know they don't understand what they are doing, they are kids... But, most of the other members can't deal with constant bullying which just doesn't go away. This is not a small issue that you just ignore. They are like parasytes which will eventually drain the community of it's members. Something has to be done.

Is this about a specific situation?
Maybe I'm blind, but the community a few months ago was a lot worse and toxic than it is now...
I'm aware of some trolls in these forums, but staff are taking actions against them.

 

This still happens.
Staff are doing great work, never said they don't. I am saying people are still bullying and abusing the warning system.

It is much better than it was some time ago, but I still hear about it alot, and I am not even playing here anymore, really.

I am not trying to put focus on some specific situation, or anything like that.
I have only started a discussion on why is it even happening so much.

 

This dose happen a lot, no one get mad but a lot of people on the server and forums like to pick on other players.

 

I'm going to share my story, for whomever wants to know.

So today, I logged onto forums and was also talking to friends on Skype and Kik.
Suddenly, I started getting random messages from strangers on Kik, saying mean and hurtful things.
"Slut"
"I hear you like dick pics"
"Go kill yourself, no one will care"
"Whore"
"Do you like anal?"

I know these people were "sent to me" by someone from forums because some of the things they said.
I had over 30 of these people saying nasty things to me in maybe 15 minutes.
These weren't random creepers. One of my Friends here started this. My settings were set so that only my
Friends could see my contact list.

So much for friends, eh?
Oh well...
lesson learned.

Listen, I can relate; friends can backstab you at any moment; but we're here for you.

I know it's not much I can offer, but it's the best advice I could give to you... Please, just stay with us. This community is slowly going downhill; but you can't give up, not for a second. That's what they want you to do. You aren't any of those things that those strangers on Kik said. I'm sure they wouldn't say any of that stuff to you face-to-face. The internet is a very vulgar, mysterious place... People from all over the world can brainwash you, insult you, start arguments with you. Because why? Because they are behind a tiny screen, and they know deep down it's wrong, but they're too focused on taking they're aggression out on someone who doesn't deserve it. I've dealt with this before; I know how it is. You just gotta ignore them and do what makes you happy. If you really want to leave this community, that's fine... I respect your decision.

But please know we're all going to miss you. Each and every one of us.

Bullying is seriously the worst experience that I used to have. I know how it feels, and since then I've started to open my eyes. Open your eyes people. We're all equal. Nobody is higher, nobody is lower. Even whatever race, sexuality, gender, or anything like that you are, we, are, all, the, same.

But of course, nobody wants to understand this. I'd like to share my story too.

I've been on here for a while now, and sometimes I feel getting used by people. Sometimes I feel getting hurt by people. Sometimes I feel like I'm hurting people.

You know this could cause a very unhappy feeling to me, but of course as always, the person doesn't seem to understand.

So, lately this person, who I will call friend, has used me for a certain reason. This person, I used to really care about, really talk a lot to them, literally think 24/7 about them, but then I found this out: Since this friend has reached a goal, they started ignoring the hell out of me. They started to talk things behind my back. They also started to do something which they promised to not do, and I literally felt used af now. I felt like this person tried to talk to me to become popular. This really made me felt used, and still does make me feel used. Since then, I'm seriously scared to start another close friendship with someone, or even a relationship.


But hey, there has been another thing that happened to me.

This friend, which I used to really like, been a best friend too, told me this.

We were in a huge argument about how the person acted, and then I couldn't take it, and started to state bad things about this friend. This friend, told me that there are a lot of fake friends of mine. They act like friends, but dislike me. This also makes me feel used. My life is literally full with fake friends. I don't know who exactly to trust. But thank god, there are actual friends, and I really want to thank them a 100 times. Thank you for being honest and being a real friend.

I just want to say if you're one of these fake friends, you've hurt me. Very badly.

but srsly i see alot of people getting trolled/bullied/greif, expecially on creative and factions.

that's why i dont like factions much because thats how people fight cause the person wants his friend's loot.

 

Ay I will share my story
Someone spread my kik on a porn website. Yes a "friend" of mine spread it. Random people started adding me on Kik saying that they want pictures of me (you know what I mean) and other stuff and I had the guts to ask one of them where did he find me. And I found it. I still don't know who is it but I have someone in mind :) So Katy you aren't the only one who gets into trouble with Kik. Just delete your kik completely or make a new account.

It's internet, what did you expect?
Don't trust anyone and anything. You don't know what's going to happen.

 

This is why im not really active anymore. Its definitely not the most friendly community anymore, and has extremely toxic members. Now that doesnt mean I do not like the community as a whole, as I think that it is a very unique and charming community. Though when it comes to toxicity, anyone remotely toxic should just be banned. Theyve done it in the past when it gets bad, but most of the time its false toxic bans/unreasonability. One member in particular was so bad and was only temporary banned, yet another was just a little depressed and was permanently banned.

This is the most meaningful thread ive seen so far this year. Thank you radeon.

 

Radeon is absolutely right, I think this Bullying problem is still a rather prominent thing, but that doesnt mean that we arent doing anything to stop it. I mean a few months ago back in Spring, the Community honestly was a very unhappy place because there was a lot of fights and such. But now that its already november, a lot has changed, people have become nicer and things aren't as crazy anymore.

Bullies are everywhere, but that doesn't mean that we wont take care of them. As i have said before, If you ever act stupid, Do a very rude and inconsiderate thing to someone else, there will ALWAYS be consequences to your actions. Look at all the people who caused a lot of trouble on the forums and gotten banned for it. Its called Karma. and it will definitely get them.

 

I've been cyberbullied quite a lot in my life. John_0696 and Radeon are right, it is a rather large problem. They are everywhere, in the internet, in life, and at school. We can't really stop their attitude, but hey, we can just ignore them. I think they should be banned from the server. Even though it might make the server population go down, at least it'll be a happier place. A friendlier community. A good one with very little salty people. I just feel bad for the people who have suicided because of these causes. They could've have a long life and a happier one. I will try my best to report people on here.

 

Let's take a second to kneel down to this thread.
This server has one of the best, and worst communities I have EVER SEEN.
I have to admit, most of you guys are really kind, amazing.
But to those who thought it would be funny to post personal information on a public site,
I would love to say you are the most disgusting, horrible, most obnoxious people ever.
I will literally cry because of your stupidity.
But I know it's not just this server.
It's life.
To you cyberbullies, I would like to say, you utterly disgust me and just because you are behind a screen doesn't mean it won't hurt you.

Agreed, but the problem is the staff/member ratio. Best way to put it is this: look at most threads on most sections (Examples: Minecraft, Random Spam, etc.). The most seen non-staff names are reputable because they care about the community.

The trolls, bullies, griefers, etc. are usually in the shadows per se. This being a forum, all posts are public, recorded, and moderated. Any staff can do what is needed. The server is different. Unless you have screenshots, staff have the hard job of the prosecution's word versus the victim's word. Some say they don't care, but they do. Look at it from their perspective: someone is saying someone else is bullying them. Without proof, how do they know you aren't falsely accusing them?

My point is: take screenshots and/or video of the bully and file a report. Staff WILL do what is needed, just give them a chance and look from their perspective.

Everyone needs to remember that the computer is a screen to hide behind. If you were talking to the bully irl and was right next to you he wouldn't have the gut to say that.
Like you know when you're chatting with you friends and then you go in a call with them. It's awkward and it's harder to say stuff to them.

 

The only reason someone would use the internet to bully other person is because they have something wrong with them in real life that you could EASILY use against them.

For example they could be really scrawny and un-athletic so you could beat them up if they tried to make fun of you or they have a really ugly appearance that you could make fun of them for.

Also these people are the definitions of cowards. They know what they are doing is wrong and they use the internet as a mask to hide because deep down they are afraid.

 

Guys, just remember, accidental bullying can also occur.
Sometimes people do not realise their actions are hurting others.

If someone is bullying or harassing you, try talking calmly to them about it.
If they legitimately apologise and act upon it, you know they didn't mean it.
If they react badly to your action, then you should start reporting them soon after.
