Okay so I usually agree with all the rules, but there has been a rule recently that I just do not agree with. Okay, so after William made the more detailed server rules thread, he added a part that said:

Only English is allowed in public chat. Languages other than English are allowed in private messaging, however repeated use of other languages in public chat can result in a warning.

I get that people talking in other languages in public chat is annoying, but do people really have to be warned for talking in another language? Not only is this rule ridiculous, but it is kind of discriminating. I don't like how people are getting warned for talking in their own language in public chat.

Yes, they can talk in private chat, but that is just not fair. I would't like it if I had to talk in private chat because I didn't speak the language that was allowed.
    And there is another problem...
If you don't speak English and there is a rule on the forums in English that says you can only speak English in public chat, how are you supposed to know about this rule if you don't speak English? You wouldn't be able to know how to read this rule if you didn't speak English. This is super ironic if you think about it. You have a rule in English saying that you can only speak English... I mean come on...

It's like not fair at all for others to enjoy the server and have fun with their friends. Even worse is that you have everyone on the forums literally spamming and making reports that are reporting people talking in other languages. It's just not fair and this rule has to be changed.

I will list some pros and cons to this change if we did actually remove this rule:

    Pros:

    • More players that speak different languages.
    • More diversity.
    • Less work for staff when it comes to solving all the "Talking in (language here)" reports.
    • No discrimination.
    • Fairness for all.
    Cons:
    • More work for staff to figure out what people are saying (like if people in chat are fighting, but are speaking Turkish).
    • Annoying chat to those who only speak English.
If you want, let me know what you think. I know that by getting rid of this rule, it would cause some issues in the future, but I think that the pros outweigh the cons in this one.

I was going to make a suggestion similar to this, but I don't think that the English in public chat rule should be straight-out removed, but rather, altered.

Is it okay with you if I make a suggestion similar to this? It's not going to be the exact same, ofc, but will have similarities.

I agree with this; I understand that not all people can speak English (fluently) or any English whatsoever. The rule should be improvised so that it states that it is preferred for people to speak English if they can, rather than completely removing it, so it isn't as strict or harsh just because a person is inable to speak a language and they shouldn't be expected to. That would be like sticking a person from America with no French background or knowledge of the language whatsoever into France and expecting them to speak and write fluently in French (maybe not to that extreme but you get the point).

I think you misunderstood the point here, let me crack it to you:

If people talk another language in the chat a sometimes, it will not get them a warning, that is why it says: however repeated use of other languages in public chat can result in a warning.

If you talk a few times in another language, let's say, Spanish, you will not get punished. Now if you spam the hell out of the chat with a language that none understands... You'll get warned for it.

Here is what happens if we allow different languages with no sort of control method:

It is not: You talk another language = warn ; That is why in the rule we include the word ''REPEATED''.
