here you go, just turn your gamma up and adjust it to the correct area. mine is 10-15.

 

I do this myself, I set my gamma to 10,000. It's not really bad or anything. I don't think it gives any advantages. Mobs still spawn, it's just a brighter look for you. It can't possibly affect game play since it's just brightness. Even when mining, players only place torches to prevent mobs from spawning, rather than the need for light, as you can see just as well in darkness as you can in light.

Yep. I use that. Outside looks perfectly normal and caves/unlit areas look as bright as overground :).
