Suddenly, Staff

I am on neither side here. I will state my opinions, but I have nothing against the staff being away from minecraft, or anything to defend them with. Yes, staff members have lives and they should be able to be away for a while, but not for too long. Certain things that require a staff member to be on cannot be resolved via forum post, such as removal of shop signs. Removal of shop signs has been a major issue now due to name changes, and players stupidly forgetting to break their shop signs before changing their name. I've tried other methods, as writing down the coordinates of each chest, but both times staff member @XenonHD tried to resolve via coordinates, he only managed to find one chest and break the sign on it. This is but one reason why we should have less staff being away from their game though. What of the forum reports? Here's the deal: If staff members are constantly on the server, who would be on the forums to resolve reports? Who would be online to keep the chat box appropriate?

Yes, staff being away is a major problem, but not entirely one that needs resolving. You all have to agree, you've been away from minecraft at least once on the server. I do it every day for 10 hours with minechat overnight at my cactus farm. If we're allowed to be away for 10 hours, what about staff members makes them any different than us? Power?

Due to staff ranks, players don't see them as anyone to respect, they don't see them as a normal human being, they just see them as three things:

-Report/Ban machine.
-A user that deserves all respect.
-Someone not to break rules in front of.

Staff members have lives too, and they have feelings as well. When you insult them for doing what you always do, it shows your selfishness. I first started typing this comment in agreement that staff members shouldn't be allowed to be away for more than two hours, but after a few minutes deep in thought, it really doesn't make sense how we're allowed to do what we want while staff members have restrictions.

1. Im not saying leave the forums and focus on server, the point is there should be something about the players that wait, maybe a notification system
2. Again, they are humans and we all have privacy, but like I said in #1
3. NEVER, AND WILL NEVER I will see those 3 in a staff member (Correct choice of words needed) I broke some rules some times infront of higer ups many times, but since you insist, they are machines

Now look here mister. I'm not taking any sides, and I'm most certainly not accusing anyone of anything, no need to get excited. Throwing insults at me won't do any good. Please don't clarify your statement that this is not true, and immediately bombard mine with insults. Now, here's my reply to you

I must say this is the most creative thing I have seen playing through this server. I never thought someone would have the guts to convey what the staff has always said through a story. Well done, I hope you get the praise you truly deserve. As a past staff member I can tell you its annoying to hear the constant: "Staff are always AFK" "Staff ignore players" "Staff aren't helpful" "Staff only gossip about other staff/players" the list goes on. Even though I'm not staff anymore I'm alleviated to see some players truly see past this bias and hateful guild put in front of staff. I just got to say, and no this is not directed at a person or persons. If you take offense than that's not my fault, maybe you did something to feel guilt? Anyways, never run your mouth about something or someone if you don't know them or know what goes on behind the scenes.

 

I have noticed you have been complaining about the staff a little bit. Just a reminder the staff's personal lives don't revolve around the server. Also I think this story is well written. :)

I totally agree. There are specific members that stay idle even when they have left to go do something else for some time. However, there are times when we are afm due to business on the forums. It would be a hassle to quit MC every time I need to make a post on the forums. Then sometimes, we are called upon by our parents to do things without time to log out. We can't control that.

 

Going back to what I was saying earlier, the staff member above mentioned the reasons why we would go AFM of AFK. These same things happen to us and we go afk. What is so different in a staff member that we are allowed to afk and they aren't? Staff aren't police. They're humans, and they have feelings too. Being away from your keyboard or minecraft isn't bad. Staff sometimes log on and don't chat in case they can catch someone breaking the rules, but they wouldn't ignore us. A [Helper] helps. Ignoring isn't helping, so they're obviously away, not ignoring you.

 

Yea that goes for everyone, but at least a 1 letter command that can be done very fast (Like a command that broadcasts or puts your name in tab "Not avaliable"

I agree with the comments distributed by @YFIOTR and a few other people whose comment I've read.

As stated above by someone (I cannot remember.), staff might be looking at something else at the time of needing assistance. Not always will they there to help, and in my opinion I would like to see change, but that isn't the point.

I think some of the staff members (Again, some, not all are the same way..) should do something on the forums on their free time, now before that statement is taken the wrong way, I mean that they should check the forums when there is no scenario going on around them at that moment, for instance the staff member could check it right after helping someone so they have that brief moment of freedom to do what they need before someone else is kissing their shoes. Another loop hole around this "AFM" thing could be that when they go check the forums or something else, they can place the browser side-by-side or stack it (However they would prefer it.) so they can monitor the chat while they are viewing whatever it is. I do this technique but I have two monitors so I do one window on one, and Minecraft on the other.

TL;DR

Stack the windows or putting them side-by-side could result in being able to keep watch of chat and do what they need to do on forums as well.
