I recently pre-ordered Fallout 4 as I'm absolutely obsessed with whatever Bethesda makes and it got me thinking, I'm curious to see if you guys pre-order games? Normally I don't because of games like COD: Ghosts (of which I did pre-order and was very sad at how the game turned out) but with this I couldn't resist haha. Now back to the question. Do you?
If you pre-order games you're handing away your money on a game that may or may not be "complete" when it's released. It's a risk. Halo 5 is a prime example. After Halo 4, I'm not preordering, but I'll get it eventually when the Bugs, Cruddy Launch, and Server Issues get resolved.
If its a game that I live and breath and will play it not matter how bad it is, then yes and that is the reason why I pre-ordered Sly Cooper Thieves in Time
You sound like you've watched BDobbinsFTW's videos. I learnt my lesson of preordering after crappy game launches for a year, from Battlefield 4 to Halo MCC. If you want the bonus content and features, just get the game's limited edition from eBay. I am a bit skeptical about Halo 5's launch, but if the MP doesn't work, then I'll attempt LASO for the campaign.
I did watch his video but he doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't watch him, but I saw his stupid Rant videos that are filled with incomplete logic. I agree partially with Pre-ordering vs. Waiting afterwards. But the whole thing about the Halo community being obliterated is just a little extreme. It's not as popular as it used to be, but it's still there, waiting for the next "Halo: Reach," imo. I pre order games. I'm sure a lot of people do. I meant to say that you could be handing over money to an unfinished game. I'm waiting to see how Halo 5 pans out, and if it looks like there will be issues. IMO: To make Halo 5 Perfect - - Reach Ranking System - Upgraded Lobby System - A variety of gamemodes, old and new, so everyone has something they want to play. - Armor that doesn't look like Play-doh - A gamemodes like Long Night of Solace - A gamemodes where you can go underwater. I understand Halo is an Arena Shooter, but who says it can't deviate? That is the innovation Halo needs imo. Not the finicky Spartan Slam or whatever it's called.
I think it depends on the franchise you are pre-ordering. If it's the first time you play a game from that franchise I'd rather not risk pre-ordering, but if you know the company behind it and have trust on them, go ahead. On the other hand, if it's a game like CoD which, every year, gets a new release with mixed opinions about it, I'd rather wait to see if it's worth investing time and money on.
There's a Halo 5 map, Fathom, that's underwater. Space battles confirmed Armor now looks more gritty Arena and Warzone game modes are available for old school and newer players respectively. (Also, Spartan Abilities can be toggled in custom games, so you can play the game classic halo style without the abilities.) Reach ranking system is not ideal, it just shows how much you played, not your competitive rank. Halo 3's ranking system, or even Halo 2's is ideal, and they are implementing competitive ranks. Preordering has become a sneaky market tactic these days, so developers don't have to put much effort into the games since their money is already there. But 343 has been doing things unlike other developers, there's free DLC now, so no more paid map packs. And the Beta is an actual Beta where they test bugs for MP, not as a preview of the game, like Destiny's beta, where the actual game came out weeks later.
Tbh I forgot about the Halo 2+3 Ranking system. Had reach on the mind lol. I woke up like 15 minutes ago so I wasn't thinking about everything,
