Hello everyone. I've been experiencing some problems lately. If you've seen me on skyblock2, you'll have noticed me abruptly leaving the server, then logging on 5 minutes later saying my PC has crashed. I've already crashed with a blue screen three times today with short intervals of 10 minutes to an hour between each crash. The computer seems to be working fine until suddenly the sound I am listening to spazzes out, and the blue screen appears with numbers and code rapidly changing. The computer states that windows is shutting down to prevent a problem. I've been researching online, and I can't seem to come across a valid solution. I was suggested to install updates, but they either fail or are stuck at 0% uploading. This PC will be 4 years old (I received it for Christmas in 2011). The build is an Alienware M17X laptop. Any solutions you can provide will be appreciated.

    Thanks for reading, from FailedExperiment.

How long has this "error" happened the past 1 month?

Well, I did have a blue screen crash within the last week, then everything seemed to be fine. It's only today that the crashes became more common (3 times so far)

I've done that. There are 32 important updates, and 4 optional updates. The earliest one is dated all the way back to May 12th. When I try to install an update, as said above, it either fails or is stuck at 0% rate. I've even tried restarting the computer and trying to update again. A possible problem is a virus or a worm in my system that is preventing updates, possibly Malware. I'll do some virus scans. In the mean time, any other solutions? Thank you for your time by the way.

Do try to backup, your data as soon as possible.

If these steps, seem a bit too advanced do not attempt them. Consult a local IT technician.

    You can try:

    Running sfc: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929833

Checking for file system errors and bad sectors: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

    Start up repair: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/7728...-with-startup-repair-tool-in-windows-7-vista/

Perform a system recovery/restore to a image you have before, or an auto image capture: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/restore-system-files-and-settings

Running, a windows update repair: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7

    Scan for virus's

If none of the above are working, I think a system re-install is the way to go.
If a system re-install does not work, it is probably an indication of a hardware fault, if so you will need to get it looked at, by a local IT professional.

Off topic, but this isn't a forum, based around software/operating system problems, there are lots of IT forums out there, that could probably help you a lot better than anyone here can.

    Happens to me very often.

When your computer is like over heat or going really slow. It crashes to prevent some issues.

Thank you all for the help, but it was too late. My PC no longer allows internet connection (sent from my iPhone by the way). It reads my internet connection as an unidentified network. I am afraid to launch a program for fear it will crash my PC. I am running as many virus scans as I can. My computer is nothing but weight in scrap right now when it comes to terms of usage. It still turns on and functions correctly, assuming I don't try to start any programs. I've scheduled an appointment for repairs on Monday, August 17th at 14:00 (2 PM). Hopefully after repairs have been made, I will be able to use it again. This doesn't only effect my minecraft gameplay, but it also effects my school life, as I am in online school (blended learning). Anyway, as said before, thanks for your effort.

If you continue to have this error you may need to wipe your hard drive. I used to encounter this error when our computer was a lot older. I suggest downloading the free trial of AVG and clear your computer's viruses. When the blue screen occurs write down the code if you can and send it to me. There's multiple reasons it could shut down, and different codes resemble different errors. Regarding the update(s), don't update unless you wipe your drive.

New update: I've finally gotten internet back up on my PC. The cause of my loss of internet connection was a malfunction in my virus protection software. The firewall was immediately disabled, exposing my system to viruses and hacks. However, my virus protection, avast, immediately switched off all internet connection from my computer (I even tried my personal hotspot, avast would not let me connect). The reasoning behind this is to prevent any viruses to attack me while my firewall was down. I've checked with some internet searches on solutions to the problem and fixed my avast software with the repair option in the control panel. After a system reboot, I've successfully re-established a firewall and an internet connection. Thanks for all the support. I will leave my computer off for the next hour or two to let it settle and adjust. The next problem I need to figure out is the blue screen crashes I've been experiencing. Will look into this later.

What are the specs of your computer, just so I can get a good idea of the sort of PC you have.

I've fixed the problem. It had to do with windows update. If you have the windows version of KB3004375 installed, delete the update and restart your PC. This update is bugged and prevents further windows updates, one of the most important being KB3024777. Locking now
