So I'm having a pokemon battle next week against my friends and I want to kick their ass xD. So I don't know a lot about competitive battling so can anyone give me some tips about what pokemon are the best to use? (no legendaries) I really wanna win so every help is appreciated ;) btw it is pokemon omega ruby
You need to IV train your Pokémans from lvl 1. You need to research the perfect natures, moves sets, and roles, i.e. tank, Burst, Status Dealer, etc., for your pokemans. I don't play it anymore, but I used to.
*EV Train Basically, if you want to get the perfect IVs, you'll want to hatch eggs a lot (which takes forever FYI), and the nature the Pokemon has will affect it's stats. For example, an Adamant nature gives more Atk, but at the cost of Sp.Atk. If you had a nature you wanted on a Pokemon, but got the wrong abiliy, have the Pokemon you're breeding hold an Everstone, which it will be guarenteed to have the same nature as the parent Pokemon holding the Everstone. EV Training is pretty simple, just use a reset bag in Super Training, and then use the training regimens, or the punching bags. The small punching bags give 1 EV, mediums give 4, and large gives 12. Every Pokemon has 510 EVs to spend on stats. 252 is the maximum EVs a stat can have. Depending on the nature and Pokemon, you'll want to find a perfect EV spread. If you want a list of suggestions of EV spreads, I would suggest looking on Smogon, the site is pretty useful. Some Pokemon I personally use are: Talonflame Tyranitar For Talonflame, you'll want it's hidden ability Gale Wings, which makes sure that Flying moves hit first, or otherwise known as priority. An Adamant nature is recommended for this set. My recommended EV spread is: 252 Atk, 252 Speed and 6 Def Give it a Choice Band and teach it: Brave Bird Flare Blitz Steel Wing U-Turn For Tyranitar, you'll want it to have a Jolly nature. EV Spread is: 252 Atk, 252 Speed and 6 Def, like Talonflame. You'll want to teach it: Stone Edge Crunch Superpower Ice Punch Give it a Choice Scarf to hold and you're set. Also: EV = Effort Values IV = Individual Values Other than that, good luck.
Well a good Pokemon I know of is Klefki. Breloom and Weezing with recovery items are really nice too. Klefki, you want to use Foul Play in order to trick your opponents with their own Attack stat among status moves like Thunder Wave. For it, I'd normally use Spikes and Taunt on it as well because of Klefki's ability, Prankster. It'll be a good defense as well if you were to put Light Screen or Reflect up with another Pokemon. Considering Rapid Spin and Defog aren't the first moves people would typically use, I'd say there's a safe bet with Spikes and Toxic Spikes. It all depends on if it's a double, single, triple, or rotation as well. @nala is really good at giving tips too, hope she sees this :P Anyway, for Breloom, a good tactic is using Poison Heal and Toxic Orb if you just want to win, and I say that because it's a really long tactic just widdling your opponent down with Leech Seed, Toxic, etc. For Weezing, I have a defensive build with Will-O-Wisp, Sludge Bomb, Thunderbolt, and Pain Split while it's holding a Shell Bell. Thunderbolt might be Thunder Wave actually because of how it and Will O Wisp bypass anything and still half Speed or Attack, respectively. As for Mega Evolutions, it depends on the type of team you want and if you want it to be fair, because let's face it, a lot of Megas are overpowered like Mega Kangashkhan or Garchomp. I'm not a heavy Mega Evolution user so I don't really know about that. I normally use a Mega Charizard Y on my sun team because it has Drought and it's shiny so I can piss off my friends when I play against them Haha
Bit of a tip, try not to make almost all of your Pokémon weak to a certain type. Do some type spreads.
