I think someone else made a thread like this, but I'm not trying to copy him. I just want to hear your guys' opinion on the snapshot's Skin layering; and if you have a photo you're welcome to post it
We were actually talking about this at a different forum. Deja Vu. I hope someone makes a model just for it.
Actually someone made a format for the new skin. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...e-skins-with-the-new-skin-system-from-14w03b/
That looks pretty awesome :D BTW, do the arms have to have the same textures? For example, if I wanted my right arm to have an emblem, would that emblem appear too in the left arm?
The new quirk that I love (but it makes skinning more difficult now) is that you can now texture both the arms and legs seperately, i.e. your right arm could have something that doesn't appear on your left arm, or on your leg you could have something, and it wouldn't show up on the other leg.
This is actually pretty easy compared to what other games do to make skins for their models. This adds a pretty cool new dimension to skins. I like it, I hope they bring it to XBOX.
It's actually been on Xbox, if you notice on the skins in some of the packs, they have shoulder pads and extended things on their hats. I wish you could make custom skins there.
Ok, so the hat layer for example, is sticking away from your head right? It's a separate layer of pixels that isn't on your "head". So Layered Skins are basically hats for the head, but on every part of the body.
Well I have a jacket, really, but yes the sleeves are very noticeable. To make the sleeves (or jacket :p) you just have to make your skin through the format, but to see the layers you have to be in 14w03a or higher
It's really an easy process, but with the new format, it's more confusing to skin because each arm/leg is now it's own separate texture, but all you have to do is use the format I posted, and you texture the jacket as a regular torso and arms in the places labeled: BODY-L2, rARM-2, and lARM-2. Hope that helps a little bit c:
