Minecraft Resource/texture pack assistance

Hello everyone!

I have a Windows Toshiba PC/Laptop, completely new. I downloaded a resource pack today, and followed the procedure like I always have- took it out, made a folder, and placed it in the resourcepacks folder. HOWEVER, its not in the available pack list when I try to equip it.

Yesterday, Nether0 gave me a quick fix. It worked, but when I tried to put a new one on it didn't work. I tried to do the same thing as what he suggested, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. (install/deinstall minecraft) Anyone know how to install the texture pack? I can't do it. (The texture pack IS a zip file.)

 

I don't know if you tried, but sometimes IN the zip file there's the actual pack, put that one in the folder and it should work, if you
tried this already then I don't know, I'm sorry.

 

Didn't work. Any other solutions?

 

Well first of all check if you're using minecraft from Java not Program Files
Second check if the zip file or the files are corrupted
third make sure the folder's name is correct

 

Look at the winrar and is it a compressed file


Take a existing texture pack what works and just paste the pack files in to the existing rar

 

I'm understanding nothing you guys are saying. Could you dumb it down a little?

 

@Vexa_Soul ill try to dumb it down a little bit maybe the resource pack doesn't work for the version you are using and sometimes packs are out dated it has happened a lot to me. Especially with the 1.8 update and there problems.

 

So should I try an older version launcher or whatever?

 

If you want but sometimes the texture pack doesn't work for all versions sometimes its just 1.8 version okay.
