Ok, listen. I have years of expierience with Scams, and Phishing. I got hacked once, and my dad gave me lessons for like 3 years. I know what I'm saying. There has been too many people saying that they will obtain a FREE cape from a Mod. I don't know who is posing as a 'Mod' Or which mod is giving out phish links. So, here are the two websites I've uncovered: 1. Optifinecapes.zz.mu Proof: 1. Notice the poor grammar, this is a sign of phishing. 2. Look at the URL. '.zz.mu'? That's not common. 3 notice when you click on the home button you are redirected, to Optifine.net, the legit page. 4 After you've been redirected click 'capes' and the page Optifine.net/cape, the official page with no grammatical errors or 'free' cape notifications will come up, looking almost exactly like the phishing link. 2. Minecon.website Proof: 1. '.website'? Have you ever heard that in a URL? 2 The official minecon page is minecon.mojang.com. 3 Almost every mojang service has the sub url .mojang, as the one seen above 4. If the page was official, the capes would have been gone already. DO NOT ENTER ANY DETAILS INTO THESE PAGES, AND IF YOU HAVE, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR MINECRAFT ACCOUNT P.S. If you want to see how well you are able to detect signs of phishing, take this short test: https://www.opendns.com/phishing-quiz/
Too many people don't know the difference between scamming and hacking. Phishing is a scamming attempt to get one's secure information by imitating popular portals and services. Some are even obvious as hell, but hey... People still keep falling for those.
14/14 Something which caught my eye, Yahoo!: "We are send this email to you" How poor people can make their fake websites these days.
