It's been legalised

The only reason this was illegal in the first place was because religion didn't allow it...

And that's stupid, seeing as when the constitution was first made, there was this little thing called "Separation of Church and State", or the separation of religion and religious ideals from the decisions or laws made by congress. This was made in an effort to stop the favoritism of one religion over another by congress, but as we have just seen, also has many other useful attributes.

I'm not part off the LGBT community myself, but I am extremely happy that they -finally- decided on this issue; and that they decided correctly. I personally know a few gay/homeosexual (sorry, not sure which is more politically correct) people at my school, and by god, they are some of the most amazing, smartest, and overall fun people I have ever met. I'm glad they finally get this win :)

 

Well the constitution said nothing about no gay marriage, so it shouldn't have been illegal in the first place, but I still dunno why people would marry people of the same gender.

 

Totally agreed. The problem with the way that some of the 2016 presidential candidates opposed this is that they describe marriage as being "between a man and woman" and "endowed by God." Sure, believe what you want, politicians, but if you use that argument to justify banning gay marriage, then you're actively violating the Constitution of the United States.

 

He meant that since he's straight, he doesn't understand people of the homosexual orientation. Which makes sense - after all, it's nearly proven to be part of one's individual nature.

People would want to marry people of the same gender because some people's bodies are genetically (or possibly psychologically, science can't prove which one) inclined to like people of the same gender instead of those of other genders.
It's difficult to understand, but since the homosexual cannot choose their sexuality (otherwise everyone would want to be straight to be societally accepted), it is crucial for society to accept them regardless.

Can we just all stop discussing this and all agree that it's a good thing? Who cares if Ireland did it first, it's simply a good thing that in the US, the biggest country in the world (not by size ofc, rather than influence) finally recognized men and women as able to have the freedom of choosing whoever they want to marry.

 

Isn't the focus of this thread that the U.S legalized LGBT? Not Ireland.

 

I support the legalization of cannabis and all its medical and recreational benefits to our society.
