Why updating to 1.8

First of all, I did not put this in Suggestions cause I know this would get rejected, At least I'm assuming that.

Hacking:
Now 1 big reason is that eliminate hackers, There's not as much hacked clients in 1.8 as there is in 1.7.
One very important hacked client is 'Huzini'. It does not work very well in 1.8, There's still more hacked clients but this will lower the amount of hackers.

Building:
Now, I know this may not sound interesting but the possibilities with banners are endless, You can do A LOT with them, Its a huge addition to minecraft.
The new stone types are also VERY interesting, Diorite is a block that's being used as a main building block for so much players and youtubers.

I said some things, but you guys continue my thread in the comments down there.
I hope we can continue this together.

I am not against J&H's decision, but I'm just saying why they should update.

I think J&H will update to 1.8 in the future, not sure. I would love to build with the new blocks and make new creations.

 

I'm pretty sure 1.9 is not very far away.

 

1.9 will be releasing its first snapshots later in the year, and will most likely be released in 2016, then it'll be another year and a half before we update.

 

I think it is because the plugins are not updated yet

 

All the plugins are updated as far as I know, maybe J&H still need to learn the 1.8 coding system change thing :P
Minecraft made 1.8 coding much different than 1.7.10, I got the 1.8 coding fast but some people take time.

 

Isn't factions going to be 1.8 after the reset?

Yes, its a little bit different, but adapting to it is pretty easily done.

 

Yea, True. As a plugin maker for me it was quite easy but does not mean its easy for everyone

That is true, as I am a developer as well, but I am pretty sure whoever develops the plugins ( I thinks its @ItsHarry) know what they are doing and will be able to keep creating plugins without issues. Sorry for going off-topic.

Yes. Updating to version 1.8 is a good way and good step to the future. :P

 

The problem with 1.8 is that is changed the coding more than any other update. I'm pretty sure J&H will skip 1.8 and go to 1.9, along with other servers.

And yes J&H would have to make custom management plugins because Craftbukkit stopped updating due to legal issues /w Mojang.

In my opinion, I would rather have a working server with no bugs and glitches then a server that is 1.8 that isn't even good enough to play.

1.8 has made some big changes, so it takes longer to edit everything.
And, Harry once said I believe that if we keep asking the longer we'll have to wait.
Just think about that.

As a 1.7.2 user, 1.8+ is a horrendous update that introduced completely useless and quite frankly annoying things. Including the new blocks.

I would love for J&H to update to 1.8. I'm a fan of the new blocks they added,
But we all just need to wait for the plugins to update. There are also many players that experience terrible lag on 1.8 but have smooth fps on 1.7

 

I personally do not like the look of 1.8, so I would like them to keep it at least 1.7.10 compatible.
