Here is the reason why, as I have been playing on the J&H server for a long time, even months before the revamp. PREPARE FOR A WALL OF TEXT. (and you shall not pass the great wall of text) *old man voice* Back in mah day, the server only have 200 - 400. This server 'used' to be fun, until some 'people' came on the server. The server used to be filled with nice, mature people. Skyblock was fun. No scammers or spammers. Mob Arena, wasn't filled with ragers but the arenas were always full, which bugged me. On parkour, they awarded you with items that were unusable >_>. But I still played it to get some items and show off ( i don't show off nowadays ). In SG, they had a map that was later deleted. Pyramid. The SG in my experiences, didn't have much ragers or sore losers, like the ones today. Survival, was awesome. You can trade villagers. Although some people did kill, I didn't mind. There was teleporters to tp you somewhere east, west, north, or south, if you click the button that does so. Everything was well built too :D NOW SWITCHING TO ARIAL FONT FTW. Oh wait. FTW didn't exist back in ma' day. back to sky block. You can get gold ingots, by achievements. The gold had a use. You could buy emeralds, which was the currency before there was money. The shop was SOOOOOOOOOOOO small. It was just a wooden box… The sponge, still was a lot. I got a sponge from a drop party. In PB, there was a spawn parkour. There was no shop, but was still fun. It was the Jerry Team VS the Harry Team and Potato VS Hai I think. (Saul was ceased to exist :3) C: GOING FOWARD IN TIME *le time machine noise* *now i is a robot voice* Soz. Temple Run was still in it's beta. There was a new spawn, and fireworks were now in the server. Well, the spawn wasn't really new. There was just a tree in the middle and a board with the rules. That was it… lel. Temple Run came. It still is the same as it is today :L No updates sadly. Then the revamp came. Many people I knew, were gone. They didn't come back until 3 months. Everything was remade. The spawn, survival, and bleh. *GOES FOWARD IN TIME SOME MORE* THEN. PB and Mob Arena was deleted. But President Bacon and I still found the paintball 'hill' entrance by climbing up the infamous mountain peak at the old spawn. I tried to go on it, but died of fall damage. I was stupid and forgot about the fall damage. lel. I then played survival. The spawn was different. I then joined a random faction and left it. I then quit the server for a couple months w/o notice. I then came on. I went to survival and explored a bit, I found the STONEHENGE faction base and thought, that base is ugleh. I then talked into the chat a little bit. Then the magic came. dmuds replied, something about me being saul and potato's baby. I joined a faction, then I practically loved the J&H server. Surprisingly, his faction was STONEHENGE. The base looked ugly on the outside, but not the inside. The server grew popular and then came the moment. Sky came on and recorded. Next thing you know, hundreds of sky fan boys came on and spammed BUDDERBUDDERBUDDERBUDDER. I saw over 100 people named something after sky or budder, like some guy named xX_SKY_BUDDER_Xx. Ya. The server then started deteriorating. Fan boys came on and ruined the server. There were numerous reports on the 'old' forums. This server. It needed a second revamp. Then today, more and more youtuber fanboys/girls come on. Little noobs come on and start flame wars. IN THE CHAT. Trollers come on and say bad stuff and swear about how 'their' server is way better. You know the daily nuisances in the J&H server today. (I hope someone read the all)
*I read it all* All that you mention in that wall of text, is 100% true. Then again, although playing IJAH before sky's build it episode, I didn't get interested until that episode. Le two weeks later, and I am no longer a fan-turtle, yet stay to le server. Before that episode, I played skyblock with my friends. This was before skyblock had more then one server. I met someone after the other servers came along, and we made an island in sb3. That person I had met, had a donator rank. He later explained the donating system. 2 weeks later he came on and had a vip rank. Le one week later, and one half assed job, I got legend :D So, I did most of the hard to reach jobs. 3 months later, and that vip friend leaves the server and gets caught up in ftb [Feed the beast] I continue my island, making the island it is today. In the 7-10 months I have been on this server, it has been awesome. So, fortunately, I am not planning to leave anytime soon :D
Read it all Pwnage xd Yep, that wall of text is true. Actually, there is more than one reason why I left. Spammers, advertisers, I need to take a break from seeing all these people cause I can't stand them. When I first joined...the server was so peaceful :) Now? Spamming, advertising, etc everywhere. Still, Imma stay til the end although I'll be real busy this year.
With server of 1000-2000 online players, you can't avoid all of those advertisers and immature kids. It's not easy to keep it going and fulfill everyone's desires and wants.
You can REDUCE the numbers of advertisers, scammers and spammers..That's why they are getting the new mods. Not stop the advertisers completely, just REDUCE. Reduce is an important word :o No one can ever stop the advertisers, or spammers. No one D:
Hi guys, I've read most of the replies on this post. As for finding the server boring, I can completely understand. Things get repetitive when you repeat... There's not much we can do about it, adding new content takes time. However, if you play with the right people it shouldn't get boring too quickly. Survival will be brought back when the resources for it are up to date. Mojang's already working on 1.8 while bukkit (probably the biggest server software out there) hasn't even been fully updated to 1.7 yet. Also, some of you feel that the community has become worse compared to "back in the days". You have to realize that "back in the days" it was just survival. I'm sure the survival server has a sense of community, it's just not in the minigames. With a growing player base logically more advertisers and spammers come to the server. We are working on a new staff system right now which is taking quite some time. When it's done, we ideally have over 50 "mods" with less power than the "current mods". When Survival comes back, things might be like "back in the days" again. We just want it to be (almost) flawless this time. The previous Survival had a lot of issues to take care off, taking more time out of our hands than any of the other servers. Oh, and it broke a long time ago. Like... everything got wiped and the backup didn't work. That's why it's offline.
50 mods? I'm saying this with all due respect... But, whoah. How will those mods all be monitored? I mean, I just think it seems like a lot to keep tabs on. Won't the new mods have to be monitored? Not trying to disrespect the idea, just asking a question about it...
easy solution: more head admins. :p (i know there can only be one.) really it'll be a current mod/admin to five or six fresh mods if they have the time.
Look, that is a bit...dramatic. We're low on mods, everyone knows, but 50 mods? Thats a really dangerous decision. I see possibility for abuse here. The more mods you promote, the more that possibility becomes reality. Plus, this is a large server, but not that large. Maybe 10 more mods could handle it. 50 is complete overkill.
Look, I don't think that 50 mods will be a problem at all. The server has mostly 1000 players at a time online. The server needs staff than, because there are like everywhere rulebreakers. And if there is staff online now, its mostly around 2/4 of them. Staff should be spread all over the servers, not just on 1 or 2 particular place. And I am sure that Jerry and Harry will only pick good members for Mod, and that the monitoring part won't be a big problem. And, like Jerry stated in another thread, we should respect other decisions. If Jerry and Harry want it like that, so be it. And now lets stop talking about the Staff Members thing, since this thread was about a lot of people leaving. BoT: Most people aren't actually leaving because of boredom, mostly because of IRL problems etc. And yes, its boring to keep playing the same minigame over and over. First I lost a bit of hope about Survival coming back, but how it seems now, it will probably be back. Survival gets people together, having fun together. I think that the main thing of the J&H server is survival, it is fun, and it will keep fun.
25 - 40 mods should do. But with a server with around 2.5k people on, 50 seems reasonable. I would go with 40 - 50 mods. Reports would get done faster and everything would be back to it's old days. Also, to Jerry and Harry. Do you think we may have a second revamp soon?
Exaggerate is to overly stress a point, like hyperbole, if you will. Homie is implying that there will be LESS than 50 mods.
