Other Games C'mon Valve, step up your game[TF2]

Hello TF2 players & Fans! I come to you with great news! A new, amazing SFM video was made, named 'Live and let Spy'! No, it's not a 'Live and let die' parody(although that would be pretty funny, I have to admit), it's something way better! :D

So this guy named 'The Winglet' on YT started an SFM series titled, 'The Fedora Chronicles'. In it, RED Spy infiltrates and steals BLU intel. In the next installment, BLU counters, by attack RED's base and launching a robot torwards it. Then comes this installment, where RED attacks BLU's HQ, ultimately revealing the true plans of BLU team. If you want to see the full 20 min SFM animation, click here.

So now to the part of the thread that actually relates to the title:

I, among so many others, are so disappointed in Valve. Not as a whole, just the TF2 department. It's because of an overhyped update called 'The End of The Line'. EOTL(Shortened name) was a 14 minute long animation about BLU sending a train full of bombs to RED's base. In the end, like always, BLU looses, and dies. Now, EOTL wasn't a bad update. Infact, the video accompanying it had some amazing effects. But, it was a disappointment. Why? People expected new weapons, new cosmetics, and a new pl map. Instead, we got tons of cosmetics, and a melee reskin for all 7 classes that can use it(All 9, Excluding spy & Engie). Not to mention, it took the guy nearly 18 months to complete a 14 minute video. Not bad, until you compare it to L&lS(Live and let Spy).
L&lS was a 20 minute video, which had much more dialogue and voice than EOTL, a story line that relates to the TF2 storyline, and in my opinion, animated smoother than EOTL. And the biggest part. It took this guy 6. Months. It took one guy 1/3 the time it took the EOTL animator. Now, I can understand if valve delayed it, because they really did fuck up with EOTL, and probably wanted to release the video with the update, but the guy could've easily separated from the project and released it himself.

Altogether, it's just stupid how one guy can best the company with their own software. He used nothing but in-game source items(except for a few modified ones, but that's not the point). My point is:

Valve, step up your game, because if the soon-to-be Spy v Engie update is anything like EOTL, you are going to loose a -ton- of players. And honestly, it would be justified.

So, what are your opinions on it? How do you think valve might react to this guy's video? And what do you think will be added in the Spy v Engie update?

 

imo valve doesn't really care about tf2, it's mainly focusing on csgo/dota2
There's rumours that valve will release a competitive match-making gamemode in tf2 with the spy vs Engie update, hopefully they're true.

 

Actually, from my sources, End of The Line was completed months before the TF2 update. They had a big update in mind along with a new map. Guess what? Most of it was scrapped. I bet the discarded map was good enough for us players if it required Valve a year to delay the actual video. I liked the ducks in the EOTL update, though. James McVinnie and his crew probably didn't have anything to do with the actual in-game update.

Now, with this one, I'm really unsure how Valve will respond to this. If they have actual good interaction with the fanbase, then they would have known about the outburst in EOTL. They should make this better... if they actually care about TF2. I mean, c'mon, where's TF Comic #5 and the glitch fixes?

I just hope Valve would do something better this time. But since the game's too famous for it to actually care about losing players, I really, really hope for the best.

Valve is wanting the community to make games and add content to them, they gave up on counting to 3 and now are focusing on consoles that nobody will ever buy. So the'll see the video as, "Hey look people that make content, lets give them a chance to make some hats for the game! Because we know hats make us money!'

EOTL is an example, they cut the map off but left the hats in the update and not add any new weapons, something people wanted, because weapons won't make them money, the hats will.

Dota 2 is just a plain example also, they are testing their new Source 2 on it (The new engine that will be used on Valve's games and SFM). Not on a Half-life 3 that everyone wants! Dota is like 2D (not literally, but feels like it)! they are only testing it on Dota 2 for the content that the community will make.

Literally 1 key (used to open crates, thus getting hats) is sold every second on the market, they are roughly $2. Think of all the money Gabe and his companions are making. they've most likely made more money than they ever have. Roughly in 1 hour make $7200.

And can you really blame them? Remember, valve is a company. Their goal is to make as much money as possible. just in taxes on mann co. keys alone, they've made over $35,000. I would also like to contradict your statement on how valve only cares about hats. Yes, hats are a huge hit, but if they were the only thing valve cared about, then why did they add things like the strange cow mangler or the strange AWP in crates #90 & 91? Why do most of their crates have weapons, killstreakers, and stranges. I'm talking the main mann co supply crate. The only crate now that is guarrenteed a cosmetic is now the mann co strongbox, which is pretty hard to find.

I feel as if valve cares for the game as a whole, but they have to listen to the community more than listening to themselves. For if they do, pep[;e are just going to stop playing valve games and steam altogether.

 

TF2 isn't going to lose players anytime soon. It's one of the most played games on Steam for what it is, not for what it can evolve into. It's already too popular. I don't blame Valve for putting more focus into Dota 2 - with League of Legends gaining even more popularity than before, Valve needs to keep their game up and looking favorable.
That being said, I'm surprised you didn't mention the Love and War update. Ugh, that one was so useless. Everyone was anticipating it so much, saying that they were hoping for lots of new weapons and stages (and perhaps even a new class). Valve overhyped the update, making it look like it would be incredible.
It was a video, a few taunts, and a few weapons. Of course, one of the weapons was the Tide Turner and one of the taunts was the infamous conga, but still. It was practically nothing.
I don't mind if TF2's updates are spaced out. I do however want them to add legitimate, fulfilling content in them.
But it's still a fun game and even if they didn't update it anymore, I'd still play it.

 

Make Tf3 or half-life 3 or dota3 or all 3!

According to the TF2 Official Wiki, CP_Snowplow was scrapped because Valve thought "It would be too confusing for new players", yet I still get lost on CP_Steel and yet people still don't know how to play RD_Asteroid. Also, a lot of the weapons included within the update were scrapped too, apparently one of the intended weapons being introduced in the Love and War update.

Other than that, I'm hoping the Spy vs Engie update has lots of content, and Valve doesn't fuck up or remove my favorite exploit, which I will not mention.

You guys are getting the wrong idea from this thread.

I wanted to hear your opinions on what the upcoming update would be like, and instead I got people yelling about how Valve doesn't care about TF2. Ofcourse they care about TF2. If anything, TF2 is the main source of income. And while you may bitch that all they want is money, everyone has money. If you don't have money, you can't live. It's how the world works and I doubt it'll change any time soon. I expected more educated responses from the members of this forum but it looks like anyone who can somewhat relate to my topic is too caught up in the web of bullshit to even get some common sense. I am very disappointed in the outcome in this thread, and I doubt I'll make another one like this.
