Story of Grief: Denial (1)

Well first story's coming to a close. Sorry I was kinda doing something else yesterday.

Chapter 20: FallOfDenpe​

The descent down the mountain was really bad. The rumbling kept getting us down, so we had Hamood shadow-leap us back to Denpe. We could all hear the dragon awakening as the rumbling continued. The prophecy said that the dragon would breathe fire and roar continuously until it corkscrewed out of the mountain and into the atmosphere. We had only a few minutes until the dragon awakened and burned all of us. For now, we needed to get all the villagers to safety. Hamood shadow-leaped us to the north gate and we separated to west and east to try get villagers to the ocean. Twage and Ace were already in the town escorting people out of the town with other soldiers. I could hear Twage talking to Ace about something: "Go. Take the soldiers. Most of the towns-folk should be out already." Ace said. "No! I'm not leaving you Ace!" Twage said. "You always didn't listen to me and abandoned your orders. We're all going to die. Can you at least take my orders this last time!? I'm not gonna let this go! That's an order!" Ace said. With tears in eyes, Twage commanded, "Listen! Orders from Ace: We leave this town and get to the ocean already!" I really didn't know why Ace said anything since both of them were right there. I guess that's the kind of relationship they were in. "Radii!" We all turn to see Louise telling Radii something: "take Kazuke, Jowl, and Kat to the ocean along with Twage and the soldiers. I cannot forgive myself if I see them die today." Louise turned towards the rest of us and said, "nala, Kono, Xeno the east side of town." "Louise, Ace, and I will get the west." Hamood said. Kazuke argued against Louise but Radii grabbed the three of them and ran with them to the southern ocean. We went to our respective areas and bust down doors and windows trying to get as many people out of their houses as quickly as possible. The few minutes passed and the dragon burst out of his cave. It really did do a corkscrew move into the air. Neither of us could see it at all and then we heard a roar followed by a pillar of flame coming out of the sky. The flame hit the north gate of Denpe and then the dragon finally came screeching down on our side of the town. It was an even brighter red and much bigger than the books pictured it. It seemed to be around 30 feet tall. The dragon could actually talk somewhat in a garbled language. All we could make out of it was, "Humans! Die!" The dragon saw us three while we got the villagers of the east to safety. Xeno pulled out a sword from his scepter and slashed at it. He really did look like a hero, but to no avail, the dragon swiped the sword out of his hand and crushed Xeno with his claw. "Xeno!" I yelled, "Damn you!" I pulled out the dagger and tried slashing at the dragon. I decided to climb it like a child on a tree, but nala tried controlling the grass on the east side to strangle the dragon. I couldn't do anything to destroy any of the dragon's scales. I knew this was it. This was the end. I saw the dragon breathe fire onto nala. I could only see her scepter after that. It was hopeless of me to do anything. I knew I was in denial that I could save the day. The dragon threw me off his back onto a nearby house. I was stabbed by my own dagger in the chest as I see the cord of the dagger lose power. Looking up at the sky with my final moments I see the dragon breathe fire onto the west side of the village and come back to breathe fire on the east. I see the fire and suddenly time stopped. I closed my eyes and suddenly felt that all the gaps were healed. I touch my chest to feel nothing there. What just happened?
