As the title says, I was given the opportunity to go to a university near my place next year. I am currently 15, and will be 16 by next year. Problem is... I'm quite worried and anxious about going. The money isn't an issue, but I'm not sure about a young teen going there. It might be stressful and uneasy for me, especially since I am a bit socially awkward. I want to know what you think. For those who have been to uni or currently goes to one, I want to know what it's like please. Thanks. ^-^
Lol felt exactly how you do, because I've been through the same thing last year. Apparently a year later I'm 16 and in CS college and found it easy and exciting, because age doesn't decide where and when do you learn, it's all about the grade. Good luck ^-^
I'm only 14,and my school is a university, pretty much u won't get stress,if ur not lazy. I'm also weird but I have friends that are weird too,hue hue
University at 16? Holy damn lol Good luck there, it's just like regular school except with harder classes. xd
I'm 15. Going to college this August. From what I know, university is going to be hard. There is diversity in there. You'd have to be versatile to survive in such a chaotic place. Fortunately, I just attended an orientation to prepare for the hell in the future. Here are some tips: 1. Choose your friends wisely. If you're going to join in a club or an organization, the members will most likely assist you and thus, be your friends. Put your best foot forward. Always show that you're nice and trustworthy in order for you to ease your uni burdens. Remember, going to uni is not easy. You are on your own. Be smart. I know you're socially awkward, you've mentioned that, but don't be afraid of making friends. They might save you when you need the help. 2. Manage your time. If you get to a school where you can choose your schedule, several factors have to be considered. For example, the distance between classes if you're in a free section style. Also, get more physically fit if you need to consume less time lel. Aaaaaand slee 3. Observe people. This might sound like coming from a paranoid guy, but if your school is large like where I'm going to, there will always be people plotting against you. Make friends as much as possible. You'd know who the backstabbers are pretty soon. True colors will always show in certain circumstances. 4. Don't be afraid. Uni will be the start of your future, the next chapter of your life. Try being confident in yourself. If someone else doesn't like you because they think you're emo/a nerd/a loner/weird/etc, ignore them. If they hurt your feelings, open up to parents or advisers, because dealing with it yourself is going to destroy you.
Also note that many colleges (typically those foreign to the United States) have more levels than the typical ones we see here. As such, the course material isn't as vigorous as a Freshman year class in most universities would experience, nor will they get a degree at the end of four years, but it works similarly. Prodigies aren't that common, I'd find it hard to believe that every foreign forumer was one. And when I say not that common, I mean we're talking people who know more than the average twenty-year old at the age of five. Early college admission students are less of prodigies and more so highly intellectual.
Wow you guys make me wish I wasn't so lazy. Now I wish that I took the classes to graduate high school early. I would've graduated this year and start freshman year in college at 15. Now I have to wait till next year :/
