Why the 'J&H are trying to be original/unique' doesn't cut it

@ItsJerry himself said that they are looking for fun minigames. What does this mean? This means that suggesting minigames is actually ok, thus null'ing Harry's old post saying not to. This also means that any game, as long as it fun in the eyes of the majority, will be considered as an addition to the J&H server. This also means that any arguement that says 'oh, we're unique', is total BS. feel free to share this post or the post linked above with anyone you find suitable :^)

 

Yes we know. Some people just don't know and it gets annoying as fuq.

 

Exactly why I made this thread, just to clarify it to the rest of the community.

 

You do realize that I am denouncing the claims of uniqueness and originality? entertainment is a priority to the administration team, and should be to us as well, when we are deciding whether we thing a minigame should be added or not.

I agree with you perc (as always) but I slightly don't get what you mean..
I mean, Most of their mini games are unique and were created by them.
With the exception of Survival ,Factions, Creative, Skyblock, Spleef and SG The mini games we see was created by them and are original.
What I'm saying here is probably a bunch of nothing to this thread. But I thought I would clarify it.
Also, perc can you explain just a little bit what you mean?

 

I agree, Original minigames still can be around to add a little bit of variety to the server. But i definetely like the idea of them adding things like prison, Mobarena and so forth

Yes, Most of their minigames are quite unique in comparison to many others, and infact originality used to be the priority of the owners when making new attractions, as they thought it would bring in new and more members, but time and time we can see again(In many other franchises) that new originality doesn't sell. I mean, let's look at Hypixel, They've only had 7 games altogether(Excluding the new beta game & Adventure lobby). That's because HP, even with a constantly working team, takes so long for original games in the Minecraft world that are still entertaining(In which their entertainment is PVP, but that's a whole different thing). Now compare that to the ~20 games Mineplex has. Mineplex takes the huge games available to them and uses it as their own. They only have about 2-3 games that are original, which are terrible imo.

To conclude my digression on other servers, new, unlike fun, doesn't sell. It's how so many servers, that many see inferior, are able to stay alive. Seeing this, Jerry and Harry put fun in front of originality, thus completely rendering useless that arguement.

 

The thing is, Both hypickle (Hypixel) and Mineplex have a working team of professional coders. Jerry and Harry only have themselves (and maybe potato). It's a big comparison, so of course, not all their games is gonna be original, but they say that they keep to unique games because it makes the server different and fun to play on.

 

Well I wouldn't call Mineplex's team proffessional. Or functioning for that matter, but yes, we are scarce in means of plugin developers. Keeping things unique ofcourse is optional. We can't really call games like SG or Factions unique, as it's on nearly every bukkit server out there, but they are fun, and that's what's important.

 

It is known since the start of the server that Jerry and Harry do not have all original games (You can't call survival a Unique thing). Though J&H make their own plugins, a lot of their ideas are not of their own making these rumors false.

 

Honestly, I feel like J&H have too many minigames that other servers already have. Jerry and Harry only have about 4 minigames that are unique to the server, although two of them I believe may be on a few other servers. Craft Roulette, Minefighter, Sumo, and Herobrine's Chamber. But thing about it is... these "unique" games to the ItsJ&H server, they don't get as many players as the other games such as Skyblock, or OITC (Except for Herobrine's Chamber). Look at servers like Hypixel and Mineplex. I can garantee you 60% and possibly even more of the minigames on those servers are original and unique to those servers, people who have played them can most likely agree as well. Point is, I'm not saying J&H's "unique" games aren't fun, it's just that there needs to be a wider-vareity of them, something that nobody hasn't really seen before, and something they can do a lot with.

It is very good for the community that one of the owners are allowing us to suggest very famous mini-games that are fun.
If ItsJerry and ItsHarry doesn't allow us to suggest new and unique mini-games, it takes months to wait for a new original game. As a community, we must suggest mini-games for the server to be famous and still alive. Of course, we don't want IJAH server be gone. The server has original, unique mini-games that attracts the player to keep playing in the server, but the server need more unique mini-games for all of us to be happy and relaxed. I suggest to all players to find good mini-games for the server, so the server will become more fun and more.

 

I would argue that ItsJerry and ItsHarry have an equal right and say in this matter. Just because one of them says something different than the other does not, as you stated above "null" the others opinion. I am not taking a side on this matter because I do not know the correct answer to your question of whether "any argument that says 'oh, we're unique' is total BS."
However I do know that ItsHarry has stated that they have "enough ideas for minigames..."


I do not see anything here about unique minigames. The only thing I see is that they have enough ideas for minigames.

Now, I am not going to take a side in this, as I have stated above. And, I hope you understand why.

But also personally, I agree with this.
I mean, let's consider it. Just like what has been said in the past, coding a minigame takes time and effort. It isn't exactly something you can just make instantly.
How many days does it take to make a minigame? We don't know, but rest assured that it would take a while.
How many ideas does it take to make a minigame? One.
All they need is one idea, then they make the game for a while. It isn't complicated; assuming that they're in the process of making a minigame, they don't need more ideas because one is enough.
If J+H at any given point are suddenly in a need for ideas and want our input, then I'm sure they'll make a poll or thread for it. Until then, suggesting new minigames simply isn't nevessary.

 

If you don't like it, don't play it. I know most of their games are not original but I honestly don't care.
