Stalking staff members

Okay, I see two points arising from this thread.
You have staff saying that this would help them do their job better without the extra spam and such.
Then you have PresidentBacon saying that this is another thing that you could be warned from.

I will just say this, I like the staff but do I always think that they are right? No of course not. They are people like us too.
I do agree though that staff shouldn't be spammed.
Just like when we are being spammed we can report the person spamming.
My only question is, can we report people harassing us? By harassing I mean following and just bugging us.
No we can't. As long as they are not spamming or do anything else like griefing, etc. , we cannot report.
Why should staff be allowed to report people for following them around?
In the past I have been warned on the forums for things I still don't understand, and to be honest, I don't want staff to be able to warn us for harassing them.
I know you shouldn't stalk staff which most don't, but if I messaged a staff member one day saying something like -
"Hey, I love your face"
I wouldn't want them to reply back saying -
"Reported for harassment. Next time don't message me pointless stuff."

Same goes for just following them around.
I think there should be a line between just following staff around and stalking.
Even if it becomes to the point where it is stalking, what's the problem?
Okay yes you have people following you which can be annoying but you just have to deal with it.
I don't think there should be a punishment for that.

I feel like this is unfair and is not right.

Please screw your head on right. If a staff member tells someone to ignore spamming, then they aren't doing their job.

 

Not all staff distribute their warnings the same. Just because you think that your way of warning the player is efficient, doesnt mean you have to literally tell president to "screw his head on right". That could actually be taken as offensive to some players. Don't go around saying that, it is rude, especially for a staff member.

 

How would you feel if all these people were following you, annoying you? Oh wait, you'd want/enjoy it cause you like the attention.
I dislike being *stalked* sometimes and people following me and messaging me everywhere I go. If it's for a REALLY important reason, well fine. If I'm ignoring you, it's a nice way of saying I'm not interested. Some of us don't like to clearly throw you out and reject you. If you need help, message us, and if we don't reply, that means we can't help you. If we're caught up trying to help someone else, you can't expect us to go and help you at an instant. We have a side job to help. We aren't an all-day service that has to come at the click of your fingers. Now, I think this thread applies to everyone else also. I don't want to build a huge paragraph because, seriously, this issue doesn't deserve that. It's quite ridiculous that there is a need to remind people of how to act. Use your common sense. If you don't want to use it, that's your own fault and you're just going to make yourself look like an idiot. Sorry for the harsh comment but it's true.

Just be respectful and mindful of each other and we're all going to be happy happy :) :).

 

Here I wanna say something to stalkers.

First, you guys should be lucky that you are in IJAH community. The staff members are very kind there. They are patient, and even will reply stalkers.
But, that doesn't mean that you can stalk on them forever and just for nothing.

Why I say that you are very lucky? Well, because not all the communitys' staff members have that patience to deal with you. In my country, most of staff on servers hate stalkers very much (idk why) and 'no stalking' is put into the server rules. You will get some bans for that.

So, please be nice to the IJAH staffs. They are all great and hard-working people, they volunteer to help and solve problems, not volunteer to be stalked.

That doesn't mean you can't be a friend of staff members. I keep good relationship with staff like @Lolingguy13, @Paarthurnax31, @LilaRok and so on. All we need to do is to understand their situation and give them respect and personal space. They are human as well, not robots. We can't make them work all day long.

Being a super admin on a GMod server, I fucking agree. This shit is way too annoying and most of the time, I just mute everyone on the server to tell them to shut up. Having people constantly message you is annoying, and since it is GMod, it's quite annoying when I'm building.

 

First of all, like YFIOTR mentioned, if Staff members tell you to ignore spammers they aren't doing their job, so what would be an intelligent action to do? You always can notice bad activity from Staff members that to admins, what you shouldn't do is keep it for yourself to get bad thoughts and eventually rage about it on a thread (no I am not saying you are doing this).

And what is the difference? Devin mentioned in the thread, there are people who really need help and we may not notice certain questions if we get spammed with random spam.

Please mind your attitude, some users only are giving arguements. No need for such reply.

Actually, no. We signed up to help out the server out of free will, spam and such are just 'side effects'.
If we constantly get spammed and followed everywhere for no certain reason then we lose our focus and don't notice real issues.

That's not the point, we aren't gonna warn for such thing. Ofcourse random spam happens every once in a while, but what Devin meant was, if you continue spamming & following us just to bother us then we can and will take action.

 

I explained this earlier, I meant you sign up knowing that things like this would happen. You have to deal with it accordingly, and take matters in to your own hands when this happens.

Why was this thread even made? All pf your jobs as staff members is to deal with rulebreakers, moderate chat, answer questions, and take matters in to your own hands. Yet you come to us to whine about how you think this is bad. It doesnt affect us, instead all this thread is asking for is a flame war. If someone is spamming you guys, honestly just give them a warning point or tell them to stop or whatever.

What is this thread even looking to accomplish? I mean, sure itll make the 50-60 people reading it to stop if they were, but what about the other 1940? There will always be people like that, you just have to accept it, not moan to us players who cant even do anything about it.

This thread should just be locked.

No, lots of people like hearing peoples opinions about this issue.
Plus, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean the thread should just be locked.
Also, why should it be locked?

 

Statement 1: I read it, it wont do anything. People will still spam, so there is no point.

Statement 2: Isnt that why you took /mods away? If you were really getting annoyed just pm the people to stop, or just warn them. It isnt necessary to complain on how bad it is for you guys as staff members.

Statement 3: Its not me ohoho, read some of the replies lol.

Edit: It should be locked because the thread is asking for flame wars, asking for megative comments, and asking to go horribly wrong in general.

 

That's the point he was making. We ask them to stop, yet they just continue going. Then they act victimized when we do warn them and say "you have no reason".

We're not complaining. We're asking the community as a whole to not do this.

If you had people stalking you, and annoying you, would you really just want to sit back and not do anything about it?

Did you read the other statement about what I said? Just warn them, and move on. If you go out, make a thread and big deal about it, more users will actually see that people do it and maybe even participate in it themselves. If you kept it silent and just warned, then maybe this wouldnt be so common. Dont be surprised if you see trolls do this more often now, your guys' fault.

I wouldnt care. I would either leave that server, or warn the player doing it. Easy and simple.

Also, you are complaining. Its actually exactly what you are doing.

 

Yeah, because if they do it to get a reaction from you, it's similar to the term "feeding the troll". If they're not doing it for attention or to be annoying, they probably need help.

If staff really feel "scared" of people stalking them and frustrated by those who annoy them, just grow up and deal with it, this is a game for crying out loud. Everyone has to deal with annoying people in their lives. As Noah has said, you accepted the job knowing that this is all part of it.

I knew I'd have to deal with some strange people, and very rude people. I never thought I'd be personally stalked.
