IGN: xX_Chaffy_Xx Server: Survival Details: I'm not exactly sure whether or not this issue is known to other players or if this is a problem with just me, but here's the scenario: I /lock my chest(s)/furnace(s), play on the server some, and leave. The next day or 2 later, I come back, /lock my chests again because the lock mysteriously disappears. I don't know if anyone else has this issue (if so, please do let me know), but I notice that my faction members' chests and furnaces are not locked even though they should lock automatically (and yes, the chests and furnaces ARE in claimed faction land). If anyone else is having this issue, please let me know. I find this annoying and frustrating that my items could possibly be stolen without me even knowing.
Once you log out, each item you locked automatically unlocked. If no one else used it while you logged out, the lock should stay in place next time you log in. The only reason it wouldn't be locked when you logged back on is if someone else were to open/use the item you locked while you were gone. The only way to keep your items safe is to hide them, locks aren't that efficient.
Why? The purpose of locks is to keep your stuff locked up and safe from others. Did they do this on purpose to add more difficulty to survival? If anybody has solid evidence for this, please post it here. And I highly doubt that statement is true about people using the chests. Each and every chest becomes unlocked when I come back on, but none of them are missing any items (I tested this by using screenshots before and after the locks disappeared for each and every chest.) If they were opening my chests, I would think they would steal something from them as well.
You don't need evidence. Go try it out yourself. Lock a chest, and have a friend try to open it while you're there. Then log out, and log back in. Watch your friend open the previously locked chest, because they disabled the lock by opening it when you were logged off. DONE.
Ok, explain why then. And if that's true, why haven't they stolen anything after experiencing this for the past week now?
Why are you so determined to prove me wrong? I found out that locks are disabled once you logged off when I first started survival. Allow me to explain. My friend had made a chest, and when I tried to open it, I realized it was locked. We both didn't know the /lock and /unlock commands, so we tried doing things so that we both could access the chest. Then she finally had to go, so when she logged out I tried one more time to open the chest, and it worked! I then realized that locks are disabled IF someone uses the item that was locked while the person is logged out. If not, the lock will remain if the person logs back in. If nothing was stolen that means the op's faction members haven't tried to steal anything. Nuff said. You don't have to be so negative towards people, what if they are good people and don't want to steal? Have you ever thought about that? If you still don't believe me, just try what I said. Lock a chest and ask someone to open it and take stuff while you're gone. There you have your proof.
Again, you're avoiding my main question: Why? Have you considered the large amount of stealers and griefers in this day and age? People aren't always very nice, so safety of my property is a big "must". Trust too much, and you're gonna get stolen from eventually. I'm a realist; not a dreamer. Sorry if you feel differently.
