My friends are always pushing me to get into anime. I used to think it was stupid, but I've decided to give it a shot. So my question is: what are some great animes to get into? I have a Netflix subscription and no social life, so I will be willing to give anything a try!

Netflix doesn't have that much anime tbh... if you want to watch it for free online and on your phone HD, I suggest Crunchyroll. It has 1000's of animes and is my favorite streaming website. I also suggest watching Mirai Nikki/future diary Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun/gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun Akame ga Kill No game no Life Free! Death note Trinity Seven but it really depends what genre you like. If you like action, there's tons of anime with awesome action and there's also romance, comedy, and everything in between.

It all depends on what kind of anime you're looking for. Whether it be action, romance, comedy, slice of life, mecha, horror, etc... there's an anime for it guaranteed. I didn't know Mirai Nikki was considered a horror anime? o.o I would consider it action and romance... but I guess you're right there are some "scary" parts in it XD

Yes, because Mirai Nikki, one of the bloodiest and most obscene anime is great for getting someone introduced to anime. Guts getting ripped out of the body? Stalker yandere girlfriend? Tons of NSFW moments? Pencil me in! I would suggest watching: Sword Art Online Soul Eater Attack on Titan Those are all good starters, they don't get too Japanistic on you. Also, treat an anime like a foreign TV show or perhaps watch dubbed. It may increase the experience starting out.
I think most people prefer starting out dubbed, (like me) but eventually I HIGHLY recommend moving to subbed when you're ready. It will make the experience all that much better.
