Hello everybody, I never thought that I would be doing a letter like this to the community, but I found some spare time out of my day of Christmas, and I decided to write this. Not many people will even bother reading, and I don't blame you, so, long story short, thank you for everything! Now here goes the letter. Well, It's been a long journey ever since I joined around November of 2013, and here we are now, on December of 2014. Been involved in this community for over a year now, and I was indeed supposed to write one at that time, but I was going through exams, and having to do a lot of things here in the server made me impossible to write this letter, but hey, better late than never :) It's fun and nostalgic to look back and just think about how things started for me here on the server. It all started with one skype message. Incredile how one skype message changed my path over the course of one year. I was able to message Jerry and get in contact with him, and volunteering for building after building for the youtuber kuledud3 & Aviatorgaming as past experience, and I actually got a shot at it. How I got their skype is also a funny story, but let's omit that for the mean time, as I'd like to keep that inbetween me and J&H. I built that ugly OITC spawn, which is EXACTLY what it was, ugly (now that I look back at it). Got a lot of positive feedback on it, but as well a lot of hate. That gave me the energy to build more to be honest, I'm more of a healthy competitive type of guy. I built the Herobrines chamber lobby & arena afterwards, getting the main position as Builder in the server as well as a rank on both forums & server. That's when things started to get pretty real for me. I proceeded with building the Christmas spawn, which was a hell lot of fun for me and I believe that was one of the most fun things I ever got to build for, because me, as a noob on the community and as a builder, was decorating the main spawn, the first thing people look at when they log in. How crazy was that? Well unfortunately for me, it wasn't all rainbows and sunshines. I wanted to rank up on the server, I wanted to do something else that would contribute the community, besides building. Yet, I had 1 issue: My attitude. I was used to a different type of server management and organization, so my relation with @RobyNub1337 wasn't the best, as I started with the wrong foot. But that didn't really stop me, I actually realized I was not acting accordingly, at this time I wasn't even considered a staff member, but I worked to at least be considered one. Believe it or not, I worked my ASS OFF. I'm not braging about it, nor do I want to make myself look better with this part of the letter, but jesus christ, I was on 24/7 and would help with ANYTHING. And I made this a constant and normal habit for me on this community. It benefited me tremendously. As time would pass by, and I would offer to rebuild the already existing spawns and leaving a good image to the eyes of everybody, I would rapidly start to get more involved with the servers moderation. I started to be able to punish rule breakers, handle reports, get fundamental moderator tools, etc. I was getting on the staff field. Took a lot of work, won't hide that, took a lot from me physically, but I believe that it was all worth it :) I was building like a maniac, I would rebuild everything, and be in direct involvement with the community. And this was when things took a big turn. I was used to talk to J&H regularly, but only about some personal topics and building matters. But, one day, @ItsJerry made it possible for me to be part of some machinimas, and eventually of a commentary, which was my first ever commentary to show up on, which was the Traitor Club 2.0 video. It was a hell lot of fun, and from there, things changed a lot. And for that I'm grateful Jerry & Harry :) Also I'll take this little paragraph to say that, I met saul (personally) the exact day when we were going to record it. It was kind of awkward as he was like: ''Who the hell is this guy''. Which I find completely understandable xD But this guy, was a really cool guy which I was able to talk to in a both serious and relaxed way. I even dare say, we trusted each other in a way that it made us possible to talk about our IRL situations and problems. And those moments, are those kind of moments which, even tho they are not mentioned, they are never forgotten. That guy, is the real MVP. Moving on, as time would go by, I would help with more videos, I was given access to new permissions, permission by permission, and I would start to help out more on wider areas of the ItsJerryAndHarry network. A point arrived when I would give my opinion on promotions and when I got promoted to Admin because, me being a builder, I was not being given the expected seriousness that was expected from a staff member, as essencially, a builder does not moderate, they build. So being an Administrator would man that I was 100% a staff member, with a defined role and a position on the networks hierarchy. I would still start to get more permissions here and there, as I would suggest the owners to assign them as they would be helpful for my moderator and administrator duties, and which would be beneficial for the community. Things have developed until today, and things, as you can see, changed a lot over the period of a few months and finally, one year. I made a lot of friends and a lot of enemies on here, but I don't regret a tiny bit of all the things that happened in this time here. I am extremelly thankful to EVERYBODY. And when I say everybody, I don't say it in a obnoxious way, I actually do mean. If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't be where I stand today, I honestly wouldn't, and I think you guys know that. But there are also some people that I want to thank for this amazing year here such as @ItsJerry , @ItsHarry , @Saul1337 @RobyNub1337 @MudKipper85 @CupcakeOfDeath @LilaRok @BlueJeansToGo @Audrey_Is_Here @XenonHD @PandaCaity @Gthang77 @Ncecal @Slevin - and a bunch of other people, which know exactly who they are and their role on this ongoing journey, so not tagging, shouldn't be an issue :) I don't expect to leave this community any time soon, as I honestly enjoy to make people happy and have a role on such a big server and community. A lot of people complain that the community as changed, as it has turned worse. I do agree that the quality has decreased significantely since I first joined, as I think that people were way more united than they are today, but I still find this community unbelievably enjoyable and fun to work for. Thanks to everybody who has been part of my journey here on ItsJerryAndHarry, and to the people who have made it especially extraordinary, as it as community in which I have worked more and put my heart and guts into. This community has become such a regular habit of my daily life, that I find it extremelly normal to stay up nights after nights just to finish something for it, but I don't do it as a slave or something, I do it because, believe it or not, I enjoy it. I enjoy my work here, and the reactions that people have when they see new things and enjoy them, making them happy. I love to be part of that happiness that we try to deliver everyday to the community, I love it here. And for that, I am grateful. Thank you everybody for this amazing year and one month. It was a hell of a year, it was unique and extremelly fun. Once again, thank you. ~Willy
Glad you are one of our admins. I love watching you with jerry and harry, Saul, and the others. You guys are hilarious. Congrats on 1 year and 1 month.
I read the entire thing, it is amazing how people can make several friends by meeting other people. You're an amazing Admin and Builder, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I thought you were leaving for a sec. It was a privilege to meet you when that one thing happened to me at that time and you came and talked to me. Always here for you buddy ;). Minecon 2015 bish.
That was a really good read. :) I remember when you first started normally coming on the server as a builder and I was like, really confused because I had no idea who you were or anything because it all happened so quickly. Then, I remember you releasing your Skype account to public chat and a lot of people added you (including me xD) and then I guess we became good friends and I don't regret adding you that day :D You're a superb admin and builder and you really do deserve all of the recognition you receive (and more) because you really do work hard. Thank you for being my friend and one of the server's best admins, Willy ^-^
*Cries* Oh, Willy. Father, best friend, brother. You're like a brother to me. And a great admin, hardworking and very willing. You may be annoying sometimes but yanno, you're still cool. It has been an honour being your friend. I'm glad I've got to spend this year with you. It has been fun. You've helped me through a lot, and I've helped you through a lot. At first, we weren't at the best of terms. We used to hate each other xD Which was quite amusing. But, now we're great friends after sorting things through. I don't know how we did it. I cannot thank you enough for all of the good times. I hope we continue to make more. Remember, I still hate that oitc spawn. Nahhh, I kid. I was quite immature, but you sorta made me think a bit. You worked hard on it and I was an ungrateful brat. All of the calls, snapchats, and messages, I will never forget how good of a person you are. Fun times. Some people think you're rude and mean but really.. You're one of the most caring people I know. :) I'm so bad at writing 'thank yous'. Sorry, I don't want to make you *tear* So, to another year? Lets have even more fun in 2015. I wish you the best of luck. Can't wait for minecon fgt ;) Spoiler: I found a song that I thought you'd like. Thank you for everything ^-^ I'm grateful. ~Eli Omg, I wrote this listening to Welcome to the Black Parade. ;-;
Thanks for being around for everyone Willy. You've been a great and helpful admin, congratulations to one year and one month sir! Merry christmas and Happy New Years Rick!
"Roles in the community" I have never thought about that before. My questions are: Does everyone have a role in the community? Does it involve the staff position? Though I wonder those thing I never misunderstood a single word written in this letter. You have a very wonderful story TBH. It seems almost 2 days ago when I sat and wondered "How did he ever get into the staff position in the first place" and now the I know along with many others who didn't know before. I also find it amazing how you make friends. You know, its very nice to know these things and that is the point of this post I am making. @MrDeathWilliam Thank you for your wonderful work. Merry Christmas and a happy new year. I hope to see more posts by you coming in the near future. Keep up the hard work you have provided in this community, we will never forget it.
It indeed was a beautiful thread. You worked your ass off and why? To help support / improve the server. You got what you deserved. Hehe, there certainly are things to call about you, your way of working, your effort etc. We already discussed somethings privately, so I don't have to mention it again. There is only one thing that still has to happen.. #WillyForCoOwner2k14
It's always good to get something like this off your chest. You've helped this server a lot Willy so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We appreciate what you have done and must have really connected with the community to have so many close friends not me
Thank you for everything Willy. Like Spy said, this is a beautiful thread. We've shared some stuff, and I'm glad to have someone like you as a friend (Well, I see you as a friend xD), You're supportive, Funny, and sometimes crazy. You've done so much for us as a community, and you've done a lot for me as a friend. Thanks Willy. Thank you for helping out.
Gosh, Willy, you got me scared. We've done something wrong to each other for months and yet made a promise that we'd never talk to each other again once because of personal issues, but I guess we broke that promise because we're meant to be friends. I have no idea what to say, but to me you're actually a great friend. Thanks to your company on the server I never really get bored when I talk to you, somehow. oh god what else do i put in I also blame myself for being immature and annoying. Gg.
This is truly breathtaking. I took some of my time to read this and I don't regret it. I have met you Willy since Kuleland, and you were always an amazing Builder. Now that you're an Admin, it's even better! You are a hardworking person, indeed, and you did it for a good reason. I look up to you as you inspire me. I am thankful that the community has you. Good luck on another year, Willy! - Connor :D [P.S] I'm glad you're not leaving, because I really thought that this thread was about that.
I know your name, as you maybe know my name. I don't know you in person, as you don't know me in person. But this post made a lot clear. Even without knowing you, I feel a connection with you. You explained your journey in a very clear way. It shows that with hard work, everything can be done. And although we don't know eachother, since you were active in the year I was inactive, I hope I can get to know you a bit better after this very explaining and motivational thread. Keep doing what you're doing, Admin! Peace out.
Firstly, stop eyeballing me. ;D Haha but you are an amazing Admin. I love how sassy you are sometimes with people and you are a fantastic builder too.(: I'm not good at these things so I'll just leave it as that! :D
