In math class yesterday we got this weird reading we had to do for homework, and then answer some questions. Here are a few:
    1. When we draw a square, to what extent is it really a square? Be specific!
    2. Suppose we constructed the square. How does that change your answer to the previous question?
    3. How real is the number –3? How about 1/3? How about 3? Is one of these more real than the others?
Then in class today, we got a few questions about the questions and the reading too.
    1. Is the knowledge we know the truth? How do we know?
I am beginning to question life o.o

    1. A square is an object that is exactly equal on all four sides. We cant draw a perfectly equal square because we are human, a computer technically can't render it due to pixels, and the fact they're made by humans, and also imperfect

    2. -3 isn't used for physical things, just amounts, one third is an object cut exactly into a third

    1. Everything we know is from perception (seeing) and documentation (writing/drawing it), possibly what's outside our eyes is not anythinganything like what we see. Anything we know is likely to be correct, but changes when new information is available

    1. When we draw a square, to what extent is it really a square? Be specific!
All sides must be equal and contains four 90 degrees. Yes, it is essential to have four 90 degrees. A square can be a rhombus but a rhombus cannot be a square.
    1. Suppose we constructed the square. How does that change your answer to the previous question?
It doesn't. As long as you prove that your 'square' is a square then no arguments can be made.
    1. How real is the number –3? How about 1/3? How about 3? Is one of these more real than the others?
Numbers are not real. They are representation and/or substitution to answer a question. For example, there are 4 books. "4" represents the total of books there are; thus, answering the question, "how many books are there".
    1. Is the knowledge we know the truth? How do we know?
This is a religious question. Therefore, there is no right answer. However, there are many responses to this question in the form of opinions.
My response: The thing is, we do not know. We are and will always be subjugated to correction. After all, our life is nothing more than trial and error. This is no different than life itself. Knowledge is experience. It is that that we define and label as truth.

For one and two, they are incorrect. There is no such thing as a perfect square in life. The characteristics of a square are:
    • Four 90º angles
    • Four sides of equal length
    • Two-Dimensional
Even if we constructed a square containing the 90º and equal side lengths, it still wouldn't be a perfect square. The reason being is that graphite/ink both have mass. So, if we are drawing a square, then there still will be that tiny sliver of the third dimension due to the mass of the thing we are using to write it. If it is created on the computer, sure it's a perfect square, but it is only a projection/representation of a square, so is there really a way to create a perfect square? No.

@kritter124 Whoa whoa, slow down. First of all, I just want to point out that you never specify that 'the square' was a 'perfect square'. Your original question states, "Suppose we constructed the square." Practically, you can create a 'square' if we, as human beings, are already making the assumption that the 'square' is two-dimensional; which of course, we do naturally when constructing such a thing. Again, as long as you prove that your 'square' contains the following:
    • Four 90º angles
    • Four sides of equal length
    • *With the assumption, it's two-dimensional*
Then it is a square. Although, it's true that we cannot create thee perfect square because obviously, that's impossible. Perfection itself is impossible but you can achieve near-perfection. *wink wink* idk, lololol

A square is the same exact thing as a perfect square. There is no difference. If it isn't a perfect square, then how is it a square at all?

Yeah we spent the whole math class talking about this shiz.... My head hurt afterwards....

Like apply the square thing to humanity.... Are we really humans or are we just a concept? o.o

A square is not the same exact thing as a perfect square. Why? Because a perfect square is a (perfect) square but a square is not a perfect square since it wasn't 'perfect' to begin with. As have I have said previously,
To say that a square is a perfect square is like saying, "I am a human and therefore, I am perfect". To compare perfection to ordinary is completely illogical. Those two ideas are on a whole different level. There's a huge difference! Let me demonstrate. A square meets all the necessary requirements to be classified as a square. A perfect square meets all the necessary requirements to be classified as a square but exceeds the norm. To clarify, a square is has
    • Four 90º angles
    • Four sides of equal length
    • *With the assumption, it's two-dimensional*
    A perfect square is
    • Four 90º angles
    • Four sides of equal length
    • Two-Dimensional
Do I sound crazy? Sometimes, I don't even know what I saying and sometimes, I 'know' what I am saying but yea... lawl.

In order for a square to be a square, it needs to fit all the requirements a square has which is the same as a perfect square.
