Please, listen to me...

I am just... sick of this now. What am I sick of, you ask? Just most of the community. It seems to have turned, in the couple of months I have been active, turned from being a nice, friendly community, to a gang of people saying "join dis srver for op" and people just spamming swear words.

There have been countless posts of massive members of this community saying their goodbyes. This is NOT one of them. I am not leaving, I am not making a post to attract attention, except the attention of Jerry, Harry, Hai, Saul, everybody.

I was told by a member of staff, when I asked what was happening with more staff, "J&H are dealing with larger issues at the moment. Be patient." or something like that. I don't remember which staff member, so don't ask.

But the thing is, this is a problem larger than every other one. People, who have been massive members of the community and smaller members of the community, leaving because of inconsiderate children. These children who think that they are controlled by server owners. I experience an advertiser who said "My server owner is scary. He will ban me if I don't advertise." Really? Are people really like this? Are people really scared of a person who is probably the same age as them, who can actually do nothing to you.

EDIT: So many reports are being made. They are all being looked at, and I am not complaining about that. I am complaining about the amount of reports that have been made due to these people.

I can't stand this any more. WE can't stand this any more!

In the unlikely event of Jerry or Harry seeing this, I want you to listen to me. Please.
You need more staff! If you get people from all different time zones, there can always be a member of staff present! This server can become the server I knew right at the start about 6 months ago from not being very active, and only a few months since being very active.

J&H are working on bugs & crashes. They will accept staff apps soon, as homieboy said in another thread.

 

I'm sure they can take 10 minutes of their time to have a look at some staff applications that have been approved by other staff. I appreciate that they are very busy, running a popular Minecraft server, but 10 minutes a day is not too much to ask for.

I'm sure they are looking at the applications. I heard the first one was being accepted soon. But yes, we need people from different timezones.

 

Hopefully, but just one new staff member won't stop all of this advertising and spamming. They need a good handful of people to be spread out around the world to make sure a staff member is on all the time.
One more moderator won't quench the thirst the server has for good behaviour.

 

I totally agree. I really can't wait to find out if I got in or not. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but if they say there busy, then we have to trust them on that. I know that a lot of stuff happens when Mods aren't on, but we really just need to wait it out.

I agree on having more Staff members, but picking staff probably isn't easy. They have to make sure this person is well-grounded and mature and smart and helpful. J/H had a crap ton of Helper's once and someone gave them a secret job to see if they were cut for the job and 90% of them were demoted that day. They can't just look at a app and know this member will be a great mod. Time and consideration is put into it. So you just need to trust them on it, because in the end something good could happen.

 

When I asked a moderator, I was told that they will only accept applications when they feel that they are low on staff, and only one, and only if they need to.
Therefore, unfortunately, they still may not be accepted. But I suppose we can be hopeful :)

I 100% agree with you. I know it takes a lot of time. But so many of the older server members have already been seen by Jerry, Harry, and practically every other staff member. I am sure they know (roughly) who will be fit for the job, so I just hope it is soon that the server get's more staff before any more people leave.

 

Hey, speaking of which, I've got another point to state. It relates to a certain extent.

We, as regular members, should also take action into reporting spam, or doing things to reduce the amount of other people leaving. I understand that it is not our job, and it might lead to conflicts, but reporting an extra spammer, advertiser, or scammer could make another person relieved from certain unfortunate results, and we'd all have a better day.

Another thing I've noticed.

Apart from magical, who resigned, I don't think I can list any staff member who participates in any forum based discussion. Therefore, it is pretty hard to understand their opinions on a certain case or occasion, unless we privately message them. Knowing on the amount of people of newcomers who do not understand any part of the forums, it basically detracts people when they see flame threads, or even general discussions, as it is hard to find reference off any staff member on certain discussions.

Not having staff members making conclusions on threads, will make people start rumors of certain events, and I understand the result of this.

The only main reason that I've got directly from a staff member, is that because J&H can't trust people on the server. We could assume that they've experienced something devastating, also none of our business, but that player, representing the general community had let them down, and they'd grow to be more careful towards picking staff. In other words, we're the reason of the server having less staff members.

I pretty much have no right to comment on this thread, since I screwed my chance at mod, so.. theres my opinion.

Just a quick message back on topic, totally agreed, and pretty much have nothing more to add on except for things above.

Oh well, if the server was perfectly staffed, the report abuse section wouldn't even exist......

And I agree, we should all take responsibility to report somebody. I'm sure you all know that LilaRok is like the top reporter ever. I make reports when I can, or if somebody else hasn't made it yet. If we all report everybody who breaks a rule, I'm sure they will learn soon that they are achieving nothing except a waste of their time.

I am not asking for the server to be perfectly staffed, but as well staffed as it can be, because I don't believe it is yet.

 

PyromancerMagic was a good reporter to, and I do my part.

What I think needs to happen is that if we do get forum specific mods, they would need to be a bit harsher with punishments. From what I've seen, people don't acknowledge the rules because there's not a lot of enforcement. The server itself could use something like that too.

I actually wouldn't mind being a forum moderator, I would hate being a server mod, they need a reward for doing that job.

 

I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind being a forum moderator alone. The entire community is falling with younger people spamming, advertising and just being annoying.

I totally agree they should drop the fixing, and start working on staff. They are low. But, I heard that Moderators currently, will be getting a new rank. Not Admin but somethin. So they need to make sure that works out and they have all their commands.

Well, I heard from a moderator that they are only planning on making new mods when they feel that they don't have enough. They currently feel that they have enough.
Oh well. It is what it is. My cousin actually suggested the idea of forum moderators on the old forums, but that was shut down pretty soon. He got a bit miffed at that XD
Anyway, yeah, don't expect like waves of new mods. A few? Maybe, possibly.

Ugh, so many people are leaving. Everyday when I log on to the forums, I see "I'm leaving" and "I have had enough". I have had enough of people leaving! Why do they do it? Because the server is falling under the power of young children.

I don't blame them for leaving. It shouldn't be them forced to leave! It should be these people spamming this stuff.
Honestly, if nothing is done soon, the server will just be a larger target for advertisers and spammers.

Now, I didn't want to do this, but when I logged on to another large server, you don't see this stuff. Yes, the server does not have much of a community. Scratch that, it has no community. But you want to also know what it doesn't have? Spammers and advertisers. This is because every time I log on there, there is a Helper or a Moderator or some form of staff.
I didn't want to compare servers, but I just want you to know how it can be fixed, quickly and somewhat easily.
