Minecraft Is it just me or...

Is it just me or does 1.8 seem USELESS? I mean, dirt where grass doesn't grow--STUPID. Polished marble and stuff?--- UGLY... AND USELESS. Rabbits, just... no, no! We already have horses! We could've just kept the mo' creatures mod!

AM I RIGHT PEOPLE?!?! ... or naw? Explain.

You're saying that 1.8 Skins are useless?
The new potion?
The new food called "Mutton" is added which we now have a purpose on killing sheep than just for wool to make decorations or beds?
The new boss called "The Guardian" is useless? He is a boss battle, it takes time to find its water temple.
How about the new F3? It helps because of it's new addons.
Or the Slime blocks! The slime blocks are used for trampolines, fun contraptions and airships! Have you ever watched the new minigame for Vanilla Minecraft? "Missle wars"? They used A LOT of slime blocks!

Yeah, the 1.8 update maybe Laggy and stupid.
But there also good things about this update, you can't call this useless.
The developers worked hard to create updates to make us have fun and explore the new things they made for the game,
Think what happens if we don't have this update.

We won't have cool skins without it,
No purpose on killing sheep except for wool or xp,
No boss battle,
No bouncy stuff,

Without it,
We will be stuck on the same update without something new.
Minecraft is game that keeps evolving thanks to updates, Updates are just new things added in the game.
Good or bad, useful or useless, they still have purpose on adding it.

Anyways, I'd say a lot of this update was for builders. Lots of decorative blocks, not many practical blocks and items. I do like a lot of the survival changes though. *cough cough*mutton*cough cough*

 

Everyone says 1.8 is leggy, just turn on VBOs and it should stop the lag.

 

If you don't like it, just don't use it.

 

IMO, too many items are being added to minecraft making it more complicated than it should be ._.

 

I've seen people making so many cool machines, buildings, creations.
I don't think it's a bad update.
I think it's just the community not wanting their video game become better.

Dirt where grass doesn't grow is a marvelous addition for detailed path builds and swamps.
Polished marble and granite, and normal granite and marble are great for castle/house walls and building macadam path.
Rabbits...em, why are you comparing them with horses? It's like saying no to cows because there are sheep :/ Both of them have different functionality and purpose of use.

I mean, your post basically says not to use any update beyond 1.4. Why use different wood blocks when there is already an oak wood. Why use slabs when full blocks can also be used to create floors & roofs. Why have diamond and gold when there is already an iron ore.

I find 1.8 to be an amazing update. Sure, it's mostly aesthetic, but things you can do now with more building items is unbelievable. Also, the new BUD with slime blocks is awesome for redstone builds. Have you played minecraft diversity 2? Have you seen what 1.8 made possible to do within minecraft?

 

I probably have the laggiest computer out of most of the J&H forumers and I get 0 lag in 1.8 without OptiFine

 

Anything above 1.6 is a terrible update in my opinion.
The game has changed so much, it's not even Minecraft anymore.

I hate most of the updates....... It just doesent seem to be with the original concept of the game "Building"......... That is why it is called mine "Craft" So i really do hate 1.8 and ive never used it.. only once by mistake and i crashed xD

 

Minecraft is a SANDBOX, you can create anything you want, with new additions

 

I don't like that 1.8 Optifine ain't out yet... the lag is real....

 

If you don't like the new blocks, don't use them.
Simple.
I can't believe how many people are complaining, it's not like they're forcing to use the new blocks -.-
