Ok seriously? What is this, the third time the server has had a laggy host? Tons of people are complaining. I really don't see why we got rid of the host that was 3 before this one. It was probably the best out of them all. I can't play any mini games without having extreme lag. This is very annoying. Sorry if this thread annoys you, but I found it extremely necessary to put out there...
It really depends on your location. For me, I'm very happy with the host, as I'm having a very fast connection lol You can't satisfy everyone when it comes to hosts unless you create multiple ones, but I don't think we're big enough to do that kind of stuff :p
McProHosting is too expensive, IMO. I've seen Beatnode. They are less expensive and have nearly as good stuff.
Everyone complained about Staminus's down time. Gone. Everyone complained about Limestone's constant time outs. Gone. Now everyone is complaining about this new host before it has even been a month. Is it just me, or do people always complain no matter what the host is? I think we know the answer.
I live in the Middle of a Forest in PA (Pennsylvania) and the server is in the Dutch Right? Its basically impossible for me to get good connection. J&H Never get on, They should get a host from the UK or somthing...
I haven't had any problems with the new host. I don't even lag in Spleef never thought I'd see the day.
You mean Staminus? The host that had a fiber outage problem that shut down the server for a day and a half.
The server is NOT located in the Netherlands. Limestone was located in Texas, USA. OVH, is located in Canada (Not exactly sure where). 'Host from the UK'. That would make the connections from Australia and Asia worse than what they are now. Plus, UK doesn't exactly have the best weather so we would see a LOT of downtime.
McProHosting is a shared hosting provider. That means they buy one big dedicated server and split that up into smaller minecraft servers and sell their space off. They don't sell dedicated servers, which you get full control over and all the resources of. Plus, they're really expensive. Also, Jerry and Harry need a dedicated server, shared hosting is not enough for them. There will never be a perfect server for everyone. Where ever they put it, someone will get some lag. The new host is actually better for me though, and I like it :) @MappyTurtle I live in the UK. We only get rain and sunshine :) We also barely get any thunderstorms or any storms for that matter. I doubt that it would cause a lot of downtime, you must be hosting it some where really bad if that weather is gonna cause down time.
Jerry and Harry are providing you with the best they can. Hosting is mainly depending on donations, so since they are not making millions, they can't invest millions to the server. Server performance really depends on your location. Remember that 100km equals to estimate of 10ms. So, the further away you are, more delay you will get. It's just the way it is...
Do you think everyone is making all of those problems up just for the hell of it? Why would people complain about the host if it wasn't actually having problems.
Okay, let me answer some of your questions. Not sure what you mean by that, but some of the largest Minecraft servers (bigger than ours) are hosted at OVH. The data center is one of the biggest in the world.. They also own the largest data center in entire Europe. Nope, the server is hosted in East Canada, only a couple of miles from New York. You should have VERY little latency to the server. Are you sure the problem is not caused by your own internet? Because MCProHosting does not sell dedicated servers, only VPS hosting. A little VPS is not enough for our server. The big servers that you see hosted at MCProHosting are sponsored, we are not. I think you are correct. Based on your IP, you are also pretty close to East Canada, you should have far less ping than I have here in the Netherlands, and there is no lag for me at all.
Wait, if weather affects downtime and such, shouldn't the host be in a place with little or no bad weather at all? For example, a desert, San Diego, Arizona, or something like that?
