Worst Host Yet

Holy lag.. You would think the new host would be a step up, but this is a step down.. You'd think after three server hosts, we would know what we need for this server, but I guess not. Lets compare the old host to this new host

Old Host: Extreme block lag, very frustrating, this lag didn't interfere with doing the simple things like throwing an enderpearl, brewing, etc.
New Host: Extreme block lag 24/7, Can't brew, if you throw an enderpearl expect it to teleport you 5 minutles later, and if you eat your hearts will start to regain in 3 minutes because apparently the server can't register your stuffing yourself with carrots.
Why is it hard to get a good host. I highly suggest asking some of the bigger servers what hosts they use and or recommend because we are doing something wrong.
If this is considered drama, message me and I'll delete it.
This is not only frustrating, but very disappointing, now we have to wait 4 months for the server owners to notice the lag, and for them themselfs to get sick of it, then we may have a chance of switching hosts yet again.

It's hardware.. It doesn't need to sit here and get used to doing the job it was built for. It's a piece of machinery.

EDIT: Also why choose a Canadian host when 90% of the server players are in North America!

I think I know what the problem is.

I'm assuming you live in a state far from Canada.

OVH, the new host, is hosted in Canada.

Naturally, if you're far from Canada, your ping in ms will be higher, which will cause more lag.

 

Limestone was terrible in the first month. Then it was fine until the end the summer. Key words: fine after the first month.

 

I'm in Kentucky, In North America, and Oreo Pug I don't appreciate it, as countless people are frustrated and you only care about yourself.
Why choose a host in Canada when we're all mainly in the US

 

She is right. They switched hosts just yesterday. They aren't going to change it again because you're dissatisfied.

 

Let me correct you there: software

It's new software

The software, unlike hardware, does need to adjust. It's just like running a new computer. It won't run perfect the moment you turn it on, but you have to make those adjustments. So yes, it does need some more work.

And it doesn't matter where the host is located. Why do people keep thinking that?

 

They chose Canada because Canada is rad.

 

OHHHHH, Thats explains so much on why I don't lag. Everyone is saying they lag and I'm confused on it but I guess thats because It's hosted in Canada where I live o3o

 

Adding onto what @Fluttershy's Assassin said, software does take a little bit of time to adjust, and not all players are in the USA so sometimes it's better for those outside the USA and sometimes it's better inside the USA. But this server (Or shall I say servers because there are different servers running different things) holds up to nearly 5k people (I think) so if you think about it, it will lag for a bit, as people are trying to join after nearly 24 hours of downtime. It's something we will need to put up with for the moment, but it will get better, if it doesn't then, something will happen.

 

Software doesn't take time to settle in. If you adjust it, it may get better or worse, but you're affecting it and it's not "settling in". If anything, hardware would be more likely to have an affect over time, but I doubt it.

And where the server is located matters. It affects your ping/latency, which are what people are complaining about.

Either way, it is not the software that is causing this.

I know people have suggested better hosts to J&H, but they either ignored it or didn't like the host.

J&H themselves aren't from North America, they are from Europe, along with me and many other players. You're closer to the host and have better ping than us, be happy with what you've got. OVH have data centres in Europe and Canada, yet they chose Canada and not one closer to them to satisfy the majority of their playerbase. It's the majority, but it's nowhere near 90% of the server. And yes, I get it was an exaggeration.

Some people can't just deal with lag, like me and probably you too. It is a big deal to some.

Also, as I've said in another thread, it's the hosts problem and not the users internet.

 

I agree. When I ask my friends about this host, the words come from their mouths are not good words. This host leave them a very bad impression.

P.S: I'm still getting very bad pings.

Slightly better, but not by much. Still a lot of lag.

I don't really see the point in complaining so much about lag.

I live in the UK. I naturally get 1800 ping on US servers and can live with it.

J&H might also ask the hosts to upgrade hardware, so maybe something will be done over time.

Aside from the data such as player info and plugins (and maybe OS ), I'm sure servers have no software whatsoever.

 

Oh eveeeeeeeryone knows OVH. They're known for having shit support! : )

 

I don't get it... I never lag? I'm from Europe. On the old host I had block lags and time outs, no problems experienced yet with this host.

Tbh I think J&H know what they're doing and have their reasons not to go with these. Just because YOU don't know about the hosts doesn't mean that they aren't good, ofc they could be bad, but as said I've had no lag related problems at all so far.
