Minecraft [Location] Minecon 2014

They wouldn't do either of those. New York City or even Philadelphia are the only options in that region. (Philadelphia would be easiest for me, only 45 mins away). Maryland and Virginia aren't popular places, they wouldn't go there. That's like hosting the Olympics in Vatican City essentially.

 

Yes, because the state where our first president was born sure isn't popular while also being right next to washington DC

 

Virginia isn't the most popular tourist destination. They hold these conventions in large cities because they have large convention centers. It's easier to register an event in a big city than a small city. They wouldn't hold it in a place JUST because it's near a city. Washington isn't an option either, it's not like a "cityish" city.

Dood, I've been to DC 20 times. It is definitely a city. Its not just a few houses with the white house right there. In fact it is bigger than Philadelphia and Boston COMBINED. Washington is just a new york except a little smaller. I know it is probably not going to be in Philidelphia. Maybe in New York, but the perfect [;ace to held in dc is the verison center(also where the capitals and wizards play)

 

Actually, Philadelphia is much much much much larger than DC. The main thing you said was "virginia and maryland". If you compare them to Orlando, Paris and New York, it's not. a popular destination. They would never host it in that area of the US, if in the US at all. end of discussion

 

Since when were you the judge? DC is bigger than Philadelphia. We already dropped wirginia and mayrland. They would probably rather of held it in Mexico(dont know much minecrafters from mexico) more than Philadelphia. They would also agree with them holding it in New York. That would be fine by me and where it exactly would they be holding minecon in? The rangers stadium?

 

2012 estimates of population, according to Wikipedia:

Philadelphia - 5th, 1,500,000; Land area: 134.101 square miles
Washington - 24th, 630,000; Land area: 61.048 square miles

And to the New York thing, they would probably find something. It's pretty much impossible for them to not find a spot in NYC. But, if worst comes to worst, Brooklyn and all the rest are still there.

So, as my final words in this discussion:
Philadelphia is larger than Washington. I don't believe either of them have a chance of holding a MineCon, but if they were choices, Philadelphia would be better. New York City is obviously the best option on the East Coast, and I think we both agree on that. But don't get your hopes up for an East Coast Mid-Atlantic MineCon, it's most likely going to be in Europe.

*facepalm* They got the sources for the Wikipedia article from the 2012 US CENSUS. Philadelphia is larger than Washington. That's a fact, and it always has been. Washington has never been more populated than Philadelphia.

If MineCon was right next to your house, you could probably just sneak in with the giant crowds of people and they wouldn't notice. And you also don't have to pay for a hotel! WOO

 

Nice point, but I doubt that it will be where I live because almost no one here knows what minecraft is, well most of the ppl know the iphone app but none of them is a true minecrafter
