I have been reading and looking at the comments on some of the accepted applications and noticed something. Almost ALL of them have AT LEAST 1 staff member that comments saying something about them being friends with the person. I and lots of other people believe this is extremely unfair. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like when staff members go looking through applications, they see their friends name and say "Oh, this is my friend. Lets check out his application." But when they see random people that have EXCELLENT applications they don't seem to look at them. Don't get me wrong, I really think that the new helpers are doing a really good job and had great applications, but I think that staff should give some other people a chance.

    Thanks,
    -Chupy

Sorry if this should be in a different section. Please move it if it is.

Well known members in the community are bound to be friends with at least one staff member. Friends reply to the application. No harm, no foul.
No staff member says that on my app, so you're not completely correct.

Most of the staff members (and when I say most, I mean about 99%) are well-known and respected members with reputations. Staff are bound to know them before they're accepted.
Besides, would you hire a random person off the street to do a task, or somebody you've known longer? ;)

Thats fine if they want to comment on their friends application, as long as they are also sometimes commenting on other applications. I have NEVER seen a staff member reply to an application of a person they didn't know.

When you write a resume for a job, does the person usually know who you are? No, they read your resume and if they like what they see the person gets an interview. This is basically the same thing right? You write your application and if the staff like it you are accepted and you are helper until they thing you can be a moderator. If someone has an application that is as good as the staff member's friend, they should deserve the same amount of respect as the staff member's friend.

Just because we don't comment, doesn't mean that we don't read the threads.

The thing is that the staff that do reply are not staff that are in an admin position when it comes to hiring. Do you receive interviews with helpers or mods? No.

Yet when the staff read their friends applications they immediately think "Oh look its my friends application, let me reply to this and tell them how good it is."

The staff recommend the applications to the high ranks or admins.

    1)
    2) Okay, and?
The amount of replies that you get doesn't determine your eligibility to be staff.
How you act and react to events, act without staff around, how mature you can be are all factors.

You can't speak for the Staff. Anyway, comments don't mean everything. You need to be known to the community, it's pointless for you to apply if no one knows you. Chances are, if you're well known, you'll be friends with at least one of the Staff.

No, not at all. Staff only recommend people they think are fit. The accepted apps contain people that are well fit for the job, and it may be just a coincidence that they are friends too.

It isn't the amount of replies you are right. It depends on how many staff members like the application.

    Nope.
    Still.
It depends on how you act.
    How you react to events.
    How mature you can be.
How you can hold up under stress.

No, no, no. The application is only part of the whole process, someone could have an outstanding application yet be the biggest jerk ever. Like Wolf said, it's all about how you act and your capability to be a staff member.

I've seen plenty of staff members who reply to other applications, and to people that they don't know.
The amount of replies, and who replies, does not affect your chances.

Oh really? Then what would this be? This is a direct quote from Magical_Sparkle'z reply on an application.
"What a perfect and wonderful response to that scenario...---->will pass this on to the higher staff for consideration<----...from here, good luck and continue with your effort!"

Thats not at all what I am saying. I don't even know where you got that information. I'm saying its unfair that staff tend to ignore applications of people that they don't know. They can support their friends as much as they want but they should also try to support the other people who have just as much potential.

Just because there's a comment, doesn't mean that there is not support on other applications.

How are they supporting then? By not doing anything? If thats what you mean then that isn't qualified as supporting.
