I can say this: HL, L4D, Portal, and TF2 are great games. GMod isn't made by Valve, and most of those games are the valve games made before they hit their prime era and don't have the quality and thought as the amazing series stated above.

Half life 1 is amazing. I always try to get my sister to play it but she doesn't want just because of the graphics. (Hater :p) Wait there's gonna be HL2 episode 3?
It's not been confirmed, but there is pretty solid (yet unknown) proof backing it. They'll probably make a new Half Life game that runs on their currently-in-production Source2 engine.
