Yes, we are all aware of it and what it can do, and we know that a solution to this must be found. In the meantime, please do not make threads about it. We understand that you guys are just curious as to what solutions we are coming too, but making threads and posts about it will just make people panic more. Aka; Drama. So, I think you guys can tell already, we'll be locking any threads regarding the EULA. I hope you do understand why this needs to be done, thanks! Note: If there's a question that's really something extremely important regarding the EULA, PM a staff member. Do not PM/spam staff about the little basic questions (e.g "What is going to happen?"). [EDIT] Also feel free to report any threads regarding the EULA. Sometimes staff miss it :P
Am I right in saying that if a mojang staff member comes across the server they could shut it down as it is now breaking the rules?
Thanks for the information Audrey. At this point it would still be a good time to address this issue since the EULA is soon and people will be wondering what the outcome will be. Again thank you for addressing this.
From what I've heard, the EULA isn't a legal document yet, just a blog post on Mojang's website. Until it's a legal document (if not already), no action can be taken against servers in terms of the law. That being said, if Mojang has implemented a way to blacklist IP's, not allowing any clients to connect to it, they could do that. I'm sure that J&H will change things to abide by the EULA soon. If Mojang finds out about us before that, pretty sure they will give us and other servers some time to change it rather than instantly taking action. Yeah we've had the August deadline, but Mojang will probably have tonnes of other servers to deal with in the same way, and they're nice people in my opinion :3
thanks audrey for dealing with this :) Its only the first day, Maybe Jerry and Harry will announce their plan during the weekend
So wait a minute. Does that mean EULA threads that were made BEFORE THIS can get reported? But thanks for addressing this.
The EULA is a legal document, and has been in place since December 2013. Mojang has just given a new deadline to start following it instead of enforcing it immediately, because of all the servers that did not notice the change. That deadline is now passed.
Firstly, they haven't just given a deadline to abide by the EULA, they're changing it to be less strict and it just needs to be updated from a legal standpoint. Mojang are stupid for giving a deadline for a new EULA that hasn't even been made yet. I realised that the old EULA is still in place and legalised so Mojang could use that to take action right now if they wish. Secondly, the EULA has been in place since before December 2013, that was just the last time it was updated.
From my point of view, this is nowhere near a drama thread. If it becomes one, which it shouldnt, then yet it should be locked. However, this being made by a staff member, is the only open place to talk about the EULA on these forums so far. I feel that this should remain open as some people do not fully understand the EULA, thinking that everything they've paid for will be taken from them when that's not 100% true based on what J&H choose to do about this. Keeping this open would allow those who are confused to ask questions and understand what could happen, as there are different ways J&H could approach this issue. I'd much rather J&H make an official statement on their plans (if any) as leaving so many donators clueless about what's happening with what they have paid for is a bad move.
You're making this more of a drama thread than anyone else. Also, looking through your posts, pretty much all of them are stating a thread is a drama thread of which most aren't. Therefore I ask others to stop replying to him before this gets out of hand and the only place to discuss the EULA gets closed. He is not contributing to the relevant discussion at all. Edit: This account seems like an alt/troll going on threads, calling them drama threads in order to start drama. Can someone look into this?
That user is just a troll account and nothing more. Probably an alt. You can tell by their immature posts that they are just here to 'troll'.
Yes, any EULA threads made before this may be reported, but, the thread maker will not recieve any warnings. They're being reported just to get locked. Any EULA threads made from now on, though, are punishable for.
