Staff and Banning System

Due to the recent complaints about the 2 systems, ive decided to start a convo about it. I know it it is sort of like a suggestion, but i felt it fit in better here.

Topic 1: Staff

Currently the staff system is corrupt and broken. There are some staff that either need to be retrained as a staff member, or need to just be demoted. I will start with the system itself.

The system is not a subject i know very much about, therefore i can't tell you what is wrong, just what could be done to make it better.

Personally, i find a tiered staff system is best. On J&H, the best tiered system would be as follows.
O=Owner
A=Admin
M=Mod
H=Helper
OO
AAAA (Could be 3 or 4)
MMMMMM (no less than the # of admins, no more than 2x the number of admins)
HHHHHHHH (can be more or less, at least = to the # of mods, but no more than 2x# of mods)

It is about what we have now, but with a bit more staff. The admins would be in charge of 1-2 mods each that they would have to keep special watch on. The mods 1-2 helpers. Everything would be reported to a superior each level until it reached the level it needed to go to. This would mean less micromanaging for Dao. Each mod and helper would also have a primary section to work in, whether it be server, forums, ban appeals, or something else. Just a minimal change in the system as i see it.

Now here is where the real problem lies, the staff.

I will list the staff and my opinions on them in this section. Feel free to msg me a copy with your opinions and i may add some changes to the list.

6. Gthang77 | My 2nd favorite admin. Does his job nicely. Not understanding of much. (Like emotion or explanation wise)

8. homieboy | Homie was cool back in the day, i'm not sure about now..... Im sure he hasn't changed much. Never seen him on lately.

24. ~PandaCaity | Awesome on server, haven't seen much of her on forums till today.

Any staff that are in red need to be reviewed or demoted. They are some of the issues in the staff system.

I Ran out of time for the banning system and will do it later.

 

If you think staff need to be retrained or have comments on how staff do their job, how is telling everyone on the forums going to help? Telling the owners or us staff in a convo would be more beneficial for your concern.

 

I understand that, as that is why i didn't go in depth with my information on the staff. I am doing this to address the want of the players of the server. I did not plan on saying any more on the staff because what i said was enough.

 

But honestly, how is telling people-who-cant-improve-the-staff-system going to be beneficial? If there is a want of the players of the server, we would know by the email/msgs of complaints we'd get from people. If they believe so, they'd tell us.

 

Those are always ignored in my experience. The whole purpose is to get peoples' opinions and to have a discussion (perhaps to form better ideas, perhaps not), not to tell staff what to do.

Sometimes staff just need to know a bit more about the game

None of the current mods are corrupted or whatever, it's just in your head.
Personally, I don't know most of the helpers too well, so I wont vouch for any of them, but I know that all these current mods are hard working and they put "justice" in front of the friendships sometimes. Personally, I don't see the need to add more staff ranks. It would only be more work for admins, and will be even harder to gather them all for meetings and such.

From what I see, and know, I think all staff members are doing fairly good job atm, and I don't see any problem with it.
This does not go to you, but if you (players) are friends with someone who got banned, don't blame the mods. Blame them for doing what got them banned in the first place. Everyone is banned for valid reasons.

 

I honestly know, you have absolutely, near no idea on how the moderation process works in depth. See, the thing is with the owners watching admins and admins watching mods, is that we all have lives. So, if they get assigned to a person with a totally different timezone, that won't work. Even then, what if another staff member sees a different staff member, (who is not in their control) doing something bad? Would they just tell the person in charge of them? Sure. But that takes a huge amount of time, and could be done faster.

 

This is not a drama thread. It is a legitimate discussion on this server's staff.

They all do an amazing job. If they didn't, then why are they still Mods/Helpers now? I'm seriously wondering how you didn't think this would start a flame war.... You're making some rude comments to the most behaved people on the server. Also, you may think they are inactive because they have different time zones than you....

 

Because this topic is NOT Helping the server at all. Its up to e higer staff to make these decisions.

Accusing and discriminating people of their actions and beliefs in a thread could be viewed as a drama thread.
