For a long time, players have been falsely banned for hacking. People rage and report people, then for some reason the mod actually bans them. Now that several high profile players have fallen victim to this, I hope that this is brought to the attention of people. What do you all think?

They were actually hacking....... What the problem is is that they aren't strict enough.

So what your trying to say is that staff are doing their job to well? And that's a bad thing?

Seriously. What do you think they were hired to do? Sit there?

(Also this meme is overused I know it)

No, tons of people get banned for hacking when they aren't. The job of a mod is to falsely ban? "Wat" are you talking about?

Look at some report threads. Then learn what hacking looks like. The amount of false bans is kind of disturbing. The mods need to be trained somehow, you shouldn't just promote people who made a shiny application with lots of colours and bold text.

A staff member does what a staff member does, If they see enough proof or see the person actually hacking then they ban. Also they are trained, very well trained I think. They don't get the staff rank for having a shiny app and lots of colours, they get it for behaviour, how they actually act. I don't think any staff is strict, I think they are doing their job very well.

Be happy if this won't be considered as a drama thread.

In my honest opinion, I've seen both overly strict and loose server staff members. I am not gonna list them because it will start a controversy but I agree with ohai, some mods should re-evaluate the evidence before jumping the gun and banning someone who cannot appeal because it was a temp ban. A lot of the time the hackers are rightfully banned but from an impartial perspective I think some people could just be lagging. There is bound to be a video out there on all the Minecraft hacks so that it can help convey a moderators prospect of banning.

So, as a staff member, you are threatening to lock a thread that says staff members should do better. This is a legitimate problem. It's against the rules to raise a concern about a legitimate problem? How else would it be done?
So you're saying that you don't care if people are falsely banned.
Remember that aura is shown with these things:
    1. Depending on the aura client, a hacker will either aim for the legs or the head. The hacker will lock on to this spot, and will only hit people in that area.
    2. A hacker will focus on multiple people at once. A legitimate user will only attack other people after the other person is dead, while a hacker can be indicated by their head jerking back and forth.
    3. Contrary to popular belief, someone looking in a different direction than the person they are attacking is not necessarily and indicator of aura. Aura clients simply lock the cursor onto the closest person and spam click. The reason their head appears to be pointed in the wrong direction is because the cursor moves so fast. Very often, legitimate players' heads will also look this way, because they are also moving their cursor quickly. Face direction should not be used as an indicator of aura at all.
    Examples:
In these, face direction is used as an indicator, which is not a good way to determine hacking or not hacking as mentioned above. Some of these might be hacking just by chance, but the evidence is not good enough in these particular reports.

    here
Wait a sec I'll get a few more. These example might all be from the same few mods, but it's nothing against them, it's just the ones I happened to find.

If you look very closley at them threads and videos, you will see that the actual person was hacking. I don't see this as false reporting.
I really suggest you lock this. Before it gets out of hand.

I don't see how it's going to get out of hand. It's a legitimate discussion on people who have been banned, people will hopefully respect this.

I respect your arguments don't get me wrong you are very smart, but it's just if you look really closely at the videos you will see the person hacking. If you have more videos then please show them
