Ok, this is for all of you guys out there. Staff posistions aint for fun, it is something to be taken seriously, Yes, you can play around while being staff sometimes, but there are things which would need your attention at times. The point of this thread is to tell you that applying for staff is serious business, and not simple childs play. You have to be able to handle the pressure, spam, and alot more when you face it. Saying that 'I know it, I've underrstood on what I'd be under', is not enough, since there are many many circumstances you guys won't expect. Anyways, wish you good luck on your mod applications!
Another note: Please do not just post a Staff Application with one or two sentence answers and expect to get accepted. If you really want to earn the title of Moderator, put effort into your applications. Make it neat, organized, and if you think is necessary, some colors, but not too much to make it look like a rainbow threw up on it. Following up to what Flare said, speaking from experience, it really isn't easy watching over 1,000 players. You need to keep an eye on chat, as well as the forums. You have a lot of stress to go through, and you are expected to know how to deal with it. I'm not posting this to sound mean, or bossy, just a tip.
I'd be replying to most of the staff applications, and I've noticed alot of that too. Thanks for noting.
Hmm, There's a lot of applications put in, so many people. I guess it gets down to the nitty gritty, If you are well known, bonus, well regarded, bonus, Mods know you, somewhat of a bonus, been on the server a while, bonus. In the end, you can't just put in a application, well written or not. It's down to who knows you, and how they know you. I wonder how many new mods are getting chosen o.O
Exactly. Do not expect to be accepted without putting any effort in the application, but then again, it's not enough just to make a fancy app... Admins and current Staff will be looking over all players in game and will count everything in before making final decision. Also, keep in mind that "promoting" your app wont help you, because only staff can vote. So don't ask friends to spam "thumbs up" or whatevs...
Right. There are going to be like 300 staff apps in no time, and the chances of getting moderator are almost nihil. You really have to put lot of effort in it, and even if you get a staff rank, like flare said, it isn't easy.
Yeah guys, effort is probably important. If I was accepting them, I would want at LEAST a well formed paragraph per answer. My belief is that if you really want the position, you will go out of your way to put the hard work that it requires into it. Holy crap, there are so many though... XD
I totally agree. Also remember quality is the key factor in applying, not how much you have (although its better to write more for explaining your point ;) ), just make it good and fun to read!
I thought staff was super great and being staff was the best on the old server, but you don't have that much 'Free' time on the server. There is always something. "HES RACIST" "HES HACKING" "HES YOMC, WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THAT" "IM OUT OF COCONUTS" Like, I lost grip of caring about being staff and then I was promoted to Helper, so I climbed that ladder again but then the next week the server 'Revamped' and removed Helper rank for reasons that people were begging for it to bad. That was I realized "Why do I even want staff? It just takes away from actually playing on the server.". Yes some staff are the cool guys that are great staff AND have fun like DWG and MisfitCow etc... But, Is being staff all that important guys? Ask your self, Do you Really Want to be staff? The prove it. ~fin
I agree with TheOfficialPieman. Do You Guys Really Have The Courage To Be Staff? Its A Really Big Responsibility. You get about over 30 questions in one day, and a good portion of the server are scammers, griefers, spammers, etc. And don't forget about the redstone clocks on Creative and SkyBlock. There are A LOT of people out there who make redstone clocks, amd you have to destroy every single one of them. What about the hackers? You need to know how to deal with the situation, get proof, ask witnesses, and give them the proper punishment. Also , you won't have time for all the fun minigames and stuff like that. You have to destroy lag machines and break up flame wars, so you have about 5 minutes a day to actually play the minigames. If not less or at all. So, staff is a big challenge, and think hard do you want to destroy lag makers instead of having fun? And if you do, go ahead and make an app. I'm just telling you what it's all about
Don't really mind old threads being revived, as long as the comment is constructive :o Which is why I'd ask here, whats the time period to determine if a thread is 'old'? My personal guide is 14 days, but it may vary.
