As we all know, lots of people have been making up bullshit threads (like @mr_diamond_freak)in hopes of getting attention. Post your opinions on the situation here. I, personally, think they should make a rule about no attention whoring.
We can't really know if someone is being serious about a thread, but if you're reading this and you're planning on making a thread to gather attention somewhere in the future, please read: Take the leaving threads for example. Only 10-5% of the people who made leaving threads actually left for good. All the rest, came back after a week, day, or even 2 minutes. Leaving is something you should really think about before you actually do it. Let me tell you something, a few weeks ago I thought I should leave. But, I didn't made a leaving thread right after I thought about the option of leaving, I talked about it with my friends, and thought about it, a lot. Eventually, I decided I should not leave, and this is what you should do too, think about something before you post it. Now, I know you might think the whole leaving threads thing isn't related, but it is. Because making a leaving thread but not actually leaving = asking for attention. Let's face the truth, no one likes attention seekers, and if you think being an attention seeker will help you make friends - it won't. EDIT: I do agree that mr_diamond_freak's thread looked like he was asking for attention, but making a whole thread for discussing about his 'bullshit thread'? Seriously? Sure, he did something wrong, but it doesn't mean we can make threads against him.
Well what you think we should do? #11 Report the user and leave it to a moderator to handle. -> Reportbutton There is absolute no need to post anything under such thread if you find one. Press the reportbutton, write a message and close it. What else? Kills the problem before it grows. Don't pay attention to an attentionwhore and it will die itself.
no no no xD I mean by posting that link that it already covers what your trying to say in this thread, I think.
Okay, I was one of "those people". I seriously thought I was leaving. I didn't make it attention seeking. I didn't really do anything. All I posted, pretty much, was "I'm leaving. Bye." Yes, I came back. Etc etc. But no, I was not just looking for attention. I didn't care if it got responses.
I have to say, I was an attention seeker (well that's what some people saw me as) but I changed my ways and I decided that yeah, I was gonna leave but then quickly changed my mind and stayed, To be honest, I think we should just leave it and let people be and do what they wanna do. I get annoyed at some things that I feel are attention seeking but I just leave it, We can comment on it if we want but we have to option to just leave it and carry on. But that's my opinion.
People just like being the center of attention. It took me a few months to be known and getting loads of good friends. What's so hard with that? What would happen if they tried? What like people would hate them then try getting them banned and..... Be lonely. Okay saying that was a bad idea.
What we should do is just ignore the threads, not give them what they want and when the mods see them then they just delete them.
Attention crave is normal for children our age, psychologically. It's because we normally get so much of it when we are young. It's like when you have a taste for a certain food, it's because you've gotten use to it and began liking it.
I will admit I did leave for about two days. I was actually intending to leave for good, however due to the whole addiction to this game has prevented me from completely leaving. If you read my little go away thread, it showed reasons as to why I was going to leave. I mean, it is true that people do what you say they do in order to achieve attention, and furthermore, I agree that people should think truly about leaving. However, we should consider this: A person may have originally truly intended to leave (As I did), but have either underwent peer pressure, addiction, etc. Otherwise, I completely agree.
I liek attention....but I don't make attention threads ;-; I never got attention as a kid ;-; there's reasons but I don't want to explain here.
I don't really like attention, and as for leaving I didn't leave but I quit Minecraft. I haven't been playing for months already.
(Why do I always find my way into posting on these threads) Okay, honest opinions with Yomc time. People attention whore to do just that: get attention. People want attention often, and understandably so. I can see why they would do it. In all honesty, I don't feel as if it's a crime of some sort. Is it good? No. But is it an evil? It doesn't specifically break any rules. There have been many trolls on the forums. People tend not to like trolls. And yeah, I can get why. But the thing is... People who tell a troll that they are dumb, or people who talk to trolls, they are all ultimately just feeding it. I can't believe how much I've told people "Don't feed the troll: that's how they win." If you are trying to win an argument with a troll, then you've already lost the second you've stepped into the argument. I feel like it's similar for attention whoring. It's like rep whoring (old forums reference, if you don't get it then oh well). If you don't give rep whores what they want then it doesn't turn into an issue. Likewise, if no one gives attention whores what they want, it isn't an issue. What should we do about attention whoring? In reality, nothing. The less we do to notice it, the less attention whoring has an effect.
