--------------------o-o-o-o-o-o----------------------- My BackStory: I got surgery in my mouth so I could get braces. I would have to wear braces for two years, then I will wear retainers for the rest of my life, with metal objects and springs inside them. The reason why: I have a rare case of OVERBITE. It is REALLY DEEP, and My lower jaw is literally growing diagonally upwards, my upper jaw is pushing the lower jaw down, and my lower jaw might stop growing, making my mouth have a huge gap between the top row of teeth, and the bottom row of teeth. It is complicated stuff, but really, the thing is…I'm angry at the dentists. Not only because I KNEW that there was no point to it, but because they inserted DRUGS into my head, and gave me a SURGERY THAT HAS NO SUFFICIENT OR USEFUL HELP AT ALL. They gave me oral surgery, and took out a tooth of mine that was completely healthy, normal, and now because they did that…I have two new life-long problems. The area where my tooth was taken out…The other teeth next to it might start filling in the area, and the top above the area it was taken out might grow too long. Fact from doctor : "Teeth never stop growing, until they have something to hit." I had a tooth under that tooth, but the tooth is going to take 4-7 years to fully grow into the empty area. My mouth is in a balance because of the dentists. I hate it. Now, another reason I am allowed to be angry: I inquisited. I asked them why they would take it out, and what they would do later….They said, "It will help you with the braces for the next two years," but they NEVER mentioned the eternal-life retainers. They took out the tooth because the one under it "supposedly" would have grown under it, and the teeth would collide, but they were wrong. The braces dentist said that the baby tooth under the tooth was going to take a long time to grow, longer than the braces would have to be there, and the surgery dentists were wrong…. I will have to get oral surgery TWICE, later when I grow up, because of two teeth at the back of my mouth that are growing onto the others. But seriously man, I nearly SCREAMED during the tooth removing surgery. They injected me with stuff 3 times, (of course in the mouth,) and there was blood EVERYWHERE. And of course the fourth injection was in the head, (mostly near the jaw but on the outside,) and I fucking hate them, that's all there is to say. Overrall, dentists should learn to give their fucking patients info before they even DO IT... (because in fact, the retainers were OPTIONAL and didn't help me AT ALL if i DID get them, and my parents agreed to not get them, but the dentists did ANYWAYS.) fuck everything. I can't just sit here. They gave me two new problems. And made everything worse. Fucking dentists. I never feared them, but now I HATE them.
Hey, put your faith in them, they got their degree for a reason :p A friend of mine had the same problem, but it all worked out in the end! Also, dentists can't take action without your parents consent, which means they looked over the process and agreed to it. Have faith in your parents, they probably want the best for your future ;)
I know how it feels to get an injection in your mouth. I had a lisp for an hour when the dentist injected my gums because my gums were numb. Hurt so bad. I started screaming and stuff. And they pulled out this tooth that wasn't growing properly out WITH BLOODY PLIERS!
wow.... i've had braces and i'm set with them but this.... this takes the cake. it really does. and for silent and the rest of you who are scared.... every dentist is different. mine were really nice and i had no issues with them. as you see in this case it's a turnover from what i said. if you just push through, it'll be alright in the end.
How funny, considering I have a dentist appointment in 2 hours XD. But hey, at least they give me free fried chicken.
Removing a tooth isn't that bad… I know they inject a bunch of stuff and bla blabla, but I didn't scream, cry or anything when they did it to me… and I did it on 2 teeth
Good thing I went through my braces phase I never had a really bad experience with a dentist or orthodontist so I can't relate to that story you told us. The only thing I'm worried about is my wisdom teeth coming in. Sorry about what happened to you.
