How does Skyblock work?

What I do to start is making a bigger flat island. You have to be careful not to fall off while you're clearing the island for resources. Also be careful when cutting the tree because you'll want the saplings to grow more trees. There are achievements too but I don't remember off the top of my head what the command is (I'll check in game when I have the time). The achievements can give you special items that are unattainable in other ways, example... going to the nether. Fly helps a lot but you can build without it if you're careful. I still play off and on because I love the community there. Most of them are Turkish but they are really sweet and helpful.
