    KitPvP Season 8
    New season launches tomorrow!

    Map
    • New Ravine Map by @Ezzerland, @t3mptr3s and @Lone
    • Small flat combat areas spread around the map
    • Terrain designed to make escape possible by out playing opponent
    • Spots for fishing included with escape routes and limited enemy visibility
    • Trap areas to lure targets and guarantee that someone is dying
    • Minimum foliage to avoid map generated lag (not sorry for all of the stone)
    • Includes over 20 Easter eggs
    Gameplay
    • Repair block changed from Anvil to Iron Block
    • Ability to use Anvil to combine gear
    • Removed Enchanting tables
    • Modified methods to block players who attempt to glitch back into spawn (tested and functioning successfully)
    • Added Death Messages (with a toggle command of /toggledeathmessages)
    • Brand new (and heavily tested) Anti-cheat. Through multiple tests we have not yet found ANY false positives or hitches that were experienced in previous seasons. Cheat detection is more robust and faster, so cheaters won't last long. Includes major improvements to killaura detection!
    • Added weekly kills leaderboard to allow for more dynamic updates on leaderboards
    • Infinity arrows are now destroyed on impact to keep the map clean and help with entity lag
    • Fixed some bugs (like /top pages)
    • /Top now shows top weekly kills
    • /Top2 shows top stats of the season
    • Increased gapple cooldown by 20 seconds
    • Killstreaks remain active through logouts

    Kits

    • No longer need to empty inventory to get kits, just need enough inventory space for the items
    • Added a 3 day start of season grace period where premium kits are disabled (everyone starts on similar footing, decreasing the p2w advantages and improving start of season balance)
    • Slight modification to kits to rebalance their unique advantages
      • Warrior/default has no enchants
      • Archer lost power on bow, sword is gold
      • Rogue speed pot increased to speed 2
      • Fisherman gains jump boost 2 potion
      • Paladin speed pot increases to speed 2
      • DarkKnight instant damage pots for increased to damage 2
      • Sniper loses punch 2
      • Guardian gains 3 speed 2 potions
      • Unbreaking is still included in kits with non-diamond gear to help balance the shift between gear gaps
    • Drastic change in premium kit cooldowns to solidify kit balance
    • New item reduces kits that are on cooldown by 50% of their remaining cooldown (/cd to use, accessible from crates and server store)

    Crates
    • Removed gear from loot crates and added in enchantments
    • Added Punch and Unbreaking exclusive to crates (making good gear easy to acquire, god gear difficult)
    • Added 3 classic Unique items back into special crates (Knockback IV lever, Special Nether Star, Special Brick Block). These items can not be lost on death
    • Added a chance to get an extra PV
    • Added the new cooldown reducer
    • Added Harming II splash potions

    Villager Shop
    • Added Special Crate Keys
    • Added Enchanted books
    • Does not include Unbreaking or Punch
    • Enchants that cause damage (sharpness, power, fire, etc) cost less than protection enchants (encourages a focus on dealing damage in early combat before working on protection advantages)
    • Decreased cost of all equipment to $5 (sword, axe, bow)
    • Decreased cost of splash healing, speed and ender pearls
    • Increased cost of crapples (slightly)
    • Removed gapples (still available in crates)

    Duels
    • Sumo game mode added to duels
    • Sumo uses 4 exclusive maps revived from the old JH sumo server
    • Changed combo mode to Sharpness I and Protection X so instant death from 1 combo is not a thing. Need to break down gear or get a combo while they are trying to gap

    Reminder
    • God rank has /rename and /repair
    • Everyone has /trash or can use the disposal signs
    • /withdraw and /deposit your currency
    • /trade allows safe selling/trading of gear
    • You can place bets on duels! Items or currency

    Weekly Payout
    There will be 4 weeks of payout beginning December 30th
    Payout is given to the top 5 players in /top (new weekly leaderboard)​
    • 1st: $20 Paypal
    • 2nd: $20 Buycraft
    • 3rd: $15 Buycraft
    • 4th: $10 Buycraft
    • 5th: $5 Buycraft

    I do dislike the lever, i don't want nakeds just hitting me away etc and not being able to lose it..

    Personally, I used to hate nakeds running around and just dying (not playing the game). As annoying as the KB lever is, I've come to realize there are different ways to have fun. For some people, it's fishing. For some people, it's just running around with a nether star and setting people on fire. And for some, it's running around with a lever and taunting your killer.

    To each their own ;)

    paladin needs a 3m str 1 that refreshes every 10m and assassin needs 5 poison 2’s that last 45s and it should refresh every 6 hours

    Whut. Everyone knows there should only be 1 kit and it should have 4 god sets and a stack of gaps with some speed 2 and str pots.

    Not the biggest fan of the aesthetics of the map or pvp nowadays either, but this alone compensates for both.

    There is. You get two punch 1's from the crate and combine them with an anvil
    I can understand wanting every advantage and not liking those 2 changes.
    You missed the most important change. With gear being combinable, you can use the books you catch!
    I do hope the style of this map changes the pvp a little. People tend to want the big group fights and long-lasting gapple battles of map 1, but that style just isn't sustainable. What did seem to work to make this happen, though, was what we did at the end of this kit map where we have a week where all kits are free and in-store prices are dropped so that everyone is easily made OP and the bigger fights can exist. Hope you took advantage of the activity that brought and participated :)

    For the map itself, I spent a lot of time trying to offset the bland-nature of stone. I loved the theme concept of being in a ravine/cavernous area because it provided new ways to play with the terrain and really make a unique map. Aesthetics are naturally important and so I tried to build them in with structures, the tree and root systems and little pockets of color that still could feel natural to the theme of the map. I do think it feels different in play than how it appears in image/footage.

    So you're telling me.. there's more?! That fishing is more useful?! That anvils were actually added from my suggestion from 5 months ago?! Damn you literally added all the things I wanted in Kitpvp all at once.
    This style of pvp would be a lot more enjoyable for new players as well, since they'd have more of a chance. They wouldn't end up dying instantly and then proceed to quitting.

    As for the map, the idea of a ravine sounds good on paper but imo you can only do so much to make stone look good.
    Well I'll be finding that out tomorrow.

    With differing theories and ways about it, yes :)
    The only map that successfully had new-player break-in was map 3, which is why it stands out to so many people as a memorable success. You didn't have to have the best gear to compete. I feel like the lack of success of other maps comes at the expense of sustainability. Consumables that keep you alive have been hard to get and you have to choose between paying for XP to repair, enchanting new gear, or those consumable items. It's hard to sustain all 3. When you're on top and in full sets you leverage that strength to farm to make those things sustainable for the bigger fights.

    Ideally by changing this dynamic, we'll get closer to a more sustainable approach. Instead of taking a chance on enchanting and hoping for the best, you have control over what you want and the cost should be more managable. You have more than one way to repair gear now so picking up random loot can help you. Consumables are cheaper and easier to acquire. Sure, you still have an investment between enchanting, repairing and sustainability, but hopefully the balance is better.

    With the change to punch and the terrain, escape should be possible for everyone. With the change to gapples, immortality should be a little harder to sustain and suddenly those groups of irons might be a little more map-3 style scary.

    I think we have the makings of the right design here. Our two beta test runs both proved quite successful. I guess we'll see how the reality plays out tomorrow :)

    Uh something fun to add would being able to sell fish for $$$. That would bring some easier ways to earn money, a non-traditional way.

    Bro @Ezzerland I wish factions could have a good reset like these and ngl I seem to like all the changes except the gaps how could we get them ?

    You get them from crates. Gaps are an OP item so we have to make them crazy hard to get or new players just don't stand a chance.
